My lab is using the Pearldiver database for research. Presently, every person doing research creates buckets using ICD-9 codes on MS Word. We forward our buckets to one guy in the lab who reads the MS word document and codes the queries for Pearldiver. No on else in the lab has the knowledge to write the codes.

I have zero knowledge of coding or computer languages but I want to learn how to code the queries. What coding language does Pearldiver use? How difficult it is to learn to code the Pearldiver queries?

I would ask the guy who codes in my lab, but he is out of the country with no phone or internet access.

I'd love to help 🙂 I'm pretty good with perl, python, etc, and did a lot of bioinformatics over the last few years.

I'd imagine perldriver uses Perl, which is an okay language (although I'd rather use Python any day).

I've just begun to use Pearl Diver for various projects. My lab uses it too. How is your progress coming along?

Hi All, Did any of you ever master writing queries for pearldiver? I am exploring this at the moment and find it to be incredibly confusing. Any insight is appreciated.
