Should it be the director of admissions? Should that blank be filled by "admissions committee member"? Should it be "admissions committee"?

Agreed, I addressed it to the Dean whose name was on the waitlist letter, assuming that it was understood that it was directed toward the entire adcom

I always say "Admissions Committee," but I doubt it matters.

My advisor suggests that any letters be addressed "Dear Members of the Admissions Committee..."
