A school I am applying to requires a personal reference from a non-professor. What exactly does this mean. Would a family friend that I know well (and also shadowed, he's an MD) work? I'm a little confused. Thanks.

You're not going to last long here.

Put "I'm an arrogant prick," in your signature and leave it at that.
Come on, brah/sista. It was half-joke/half-advice. Proper grammar may be the criterion by which someone may be admitted over another. Never know. Gotta pull out all the stops.

As for your question, a personal reference from a physician you shadowed would be fantastic.
