O'Reilly isn't even the worst one out there. At least he had Obama on his show and gave him a chance to explain himself instead of pandering to fear and giving a podium for anti-semitic fear-mongers to spread their hatred.

It's nice to see the DO thread was inundated with idiots as well as the MD thread.

Anyone who says the word "socialist" "communist" "muslim" or "terrorist" as reason to not vote for Obama is either a troll or an unthinking mouth-breathing idiot.

Is it me. or are liberals generally disrespectful loudmouths... No offense to meister alone, but seems all the liberals I talk to, when confronted with sensible facts. Just get louder and more abusive. It's sad really, you know, that we let these people vote.

Because I'm the idiot, not the people who say Obama is a socialist/communist/terrorist/Arab/Muslim. Right. But those are the sensible facts right? If not, what are these facts, I am curious?

did I bold that in the quote that i referenced of yours? oh. no. I didn't... maybe you are the idiot.

Ok idiot what are the sensible facts then? Still waiting on them. Or you just pluck a quote of mine randomly and say something totally unrelated to the thread? Perhaps you need some Ritalin then.

Who's running again? OK, I think i'm voting for the terrorist/socialist. If McCain would have picked Romney as his running mate I think I would have gone that way even if he can't lift his arms past 90 deg. Seriously, if McCain gets in, we're just one 72 y.o. heartbeat away from having a woman president who doesn't quite make the political cut on the world stage. In defense of people who do think Obama is a terrorist, when the avg American reads at a 6th grade level, and the democrats put out the Obama-Biden ticket, can u really blame people for their association?

Meister you need to stop with all "over the top" responses on this board and on the allopathic board. You are making yourself look like an ass-clown. You talk down to people as if you "know" what you are talking about. Please do your intergrity a favor, and take a slow breath and calm down. Look, many agree with you, many disagree. You are the one calling people "idiots", because they disagree with you. Are you really that pompous? Honestly? Really? Shouldn't you (being from the left and all) respect all and treat everyone the same. I mean, this is a concept that the left is all about. You make yourself look like a damn monkey.

Dude, Obama is a smoker -- increase chance of lung cancer ... who knows? We've had this convo in person so I won't continue👍

But don't forget -- work harder because millions on welfare depend on you. My issue is that there are so many people who abuse the system. As a future orthopod wouldn't you want to pay less taxes, keep more of your hard earned money and actually help people YOU KNOW that need help. I think that's a lot better than supporting able bodied people who can clearly work and support themselves.

Just my 2 cents ...

Being nice isn't very interesting. I'm tired of seeing all these smears spread around. There are people who are going to vote for McCain for legitimate reasons, obviously. I disagree with that vehemently but I get it.

It is when the smears start popping up that I want to strangle someone. It just makes me sad for the state of discourse in the country. Sad and angry. Am I being an *******? Absolutely, but at least I'm not a liar. But fine, I'll quit with the vitriol.

Obama's going to win anyway. 😀

I am not a fan of either, my man, Fred Thompson got it handed to him..... and that was the end of it. Look we (Republicans) are going to smear, and the Democrats are going to smear. It isn't pretty, but it is what happens when people get agitated. I don't think people on here are like: "well I am just going to lie"..... People on both sides make stuff up all the time. It is called politics. It is difficult to see other people's point of view when you have goggles on that force you to see it your way. We are all guilty of it.

Unfortunately, I do agree Obama is going to win, and then we will all be screwed....

Who on this board is getting load and abusive.

No one here is insulting anyone...most people here have been generally respectful expect for you.

Definitely not voting for:

trickster1222446055.jpg

By the way, Hannity is the ultimate douche.

I'm voting for Obama because he will be best for the country. I don't necessarily agree with all of his plans (and I highly doubt a lot of them are implemented) but you can't deny he is smart, articulate and has the "it" factor when it comes to leading.

Lets get some things straight here about race...

1) Obama is not muslim, he is christian. Yes it is true he had a muslim father, and no this doesn't make him muslim. If you are going to make "hussein" a derogatory word, then well I am sorry to say but thats just hate mongering and racism.

2) Obama is not an arab, and "arab" is not a derogatory word that the mccain campaign is making it out to be. I get this impression from one of the video clips where one supporter of Mccain says "I don't trust Obama, he is an arab" , to which Mccain replies "No ma'am, he is a very good, decent human being". This is very sad, does he mean that arab americans are not decent human beings? I can't believe that I am hearing this in America, I don't see racism in New york so I didn't think it existed, but when you see something like that, then you have to wonder about the rest of the country. Will I be in the future discriminated against because I am Asian? or southeast asian? or will my friend who is from south america be discriminated against? what about the guy who is african? Are people really that ignorant?

3) Yes, it is true that biases made on both sides (republican and democrat) are misleading, but when these biases start turning into vile hate mongering (Like those propagated by some republicans) it is not only racist, unethical, stupid, idiotic, it is downright unamerican.

PICTURE OF BARACK AS BORAT

(slightly off-topic) I might be alone on this, but honestly, that picture just makes me want to vote for him even more 😀 if we could somehow combine biden with, say, dwight schrute, we would have my presidential dream team!

Dude, kick it down a notch. It's only a joke. Some people are so sensitive.

Just because I'm not totally sure how my comment is being interpreted: my last post was just my (apparently poor) attempt at humor. original intention: i think borat is funny + i am probably voting for obama/biden => obama/borat hybrid appeals to me. i was assuming the original intent of the image was to take a (humorously intended) jab at obama.

good thing i decided to pursue medicine and not a career in comedy, huh? "thanks, i'll be here all week, folks...." *crickets* haha, sorry, please feel free to re-commence the debate 😳

Agree.

Also, since when could a non christian not become the president...the last time I checked Arabs were white...why are so many people so hateful?

Those people who are saying that they can't vote for him b/c his a Muslim or arabic...that is a bull**** excuse...they should just fess up and say that they aren't going to vote for him b/c his black.

I don't like how the term Muslim/arab is now a derogatory term this election cycle started by Hillary and continued by McCain and that female dog of his Palin.

Just sick.

😡😡😡😡😡

No seriously I thought it was funny, and I intended to vote for Obama the whole time. Don't worry, I picked up that slight bit of sarcasm there, and I had a good laugh, because I think there are some or (a lot) of people that think this is true of Obama.

Anyone that posts the nytimes as a reputable source is laughable at best...incapable of remembering to take their next breath at worst.

The nytimes is about as centrist a news source as the obama campaign manager.

I know right, at least is wasn't a piece from MSNBC.

I like how people think they're going to convince everyone else on here to vote for their candidate. Let's start a "which religion is right" thread too. The only thing I want is for people to get informed. If you vote, you're voting for someone who is going to lead the country. Realize how important that decision is; don't just vote for someone because you are unhappy with the last administration or you think someone's a terrorist or the host of other ignorant reasons out there. Vote for someone based on the policies they are touting for the future of our country. Read both platforms and see which you agree with more.

That is funny...coming from someone crying about how liberals are rude and totally insulting others.

I like how you assume that I would be an uncaring doctor but here you are making a joke at the expense of Autistic children. Okay...way to prove your point.

I am not you so please don't project your worries and failings on me...if you are having problems go to your administrator and tell them how liberals are ruining your education.

Of course you aren't a Sarah Palin....you were smart enough to get into med school...I seriously doubt she was smart enough to stay in one college for 4 years (no see wasn't went through 6 colleges to get a single degree in Journalism or communication.) I am sure that you are able to list the newspapers that you read on a daily bases. I am sure that you could name at least one supreme court case that you don't agree with. I am also sure that you could do your job without intimidating others to do your biding at the expense of someone's else job. I am sure you could do you job and not be an ass about it. Well, at least I hope that you are able to do the following things listed...and I have been wrong before.

If the only thing you can do on this board is to belittle others....you should seriously consider a run as the Vice President Nominee for the republican party.

Seriously.

You bring up SUCH a valid point. How many times in the debates did Obama try to relate McCain to president bush?

Strongest moment of debate 3:

'Barack, I am NOT president Bush. If you wanted to run against president Bush you should have ran 4 years ago.'

You HAVE to admit, Obama uses that leverage to his advantage, and MANY people are voting on him because they are not a fan of Bush.

Sarah palin and John Mccain are unfortunately in a bad position, those who don't want to vote for a black man, will try to find comfort at the republican side... really bad for the republicans because now they have to deal with a bunch of racists.

People need to stop with the Black thing because honestly Obama is whiter than I am. Also, people need to stop making McCain seem ancient. Yes, I understand that he is in his 70s but so was Ronald Reagan and he did just fine. People, look at the issues and be an informed voter. That's all I ask. I enjoy discussing the issues and lets leave the nonsense out of it.

A pet peeve that I have is when people say Obama will bring the nation together. Ok then what? Do we really have 2 americas like John Edwards claims?

Obama is good and so is McCain but totally different perspectives. I have nothing against Obama, since I'm a McCain supporter, but I just don't agree with redistribution of wealth. People are entitled to Life, Liberty and the pursuit of happiness ... not money and healthcare.

I'm sure many of you out there, like myself, get upset with your COM when they mandate certain things and don't really listen to you. Is that how you want your gov't to act?

Let's possibly discuss Obamas healthcare plan. He says that if you're happy with your current employer insurance keep it, your private insurance keep it ... but if you don't have insurance the gov't with give/subsidize it for you. Now if you were an employer what would you do? I know that I wouldn't give my employees insurance if I know they can get it. Now we funnel millions in the "single-payor" system. Doesn't sound to good for physicians. Albeit everyone thinks you need to be altruistic to be a physician, it's certainly not something that's applicable in real life. People, especially physicians, need to take care of themselves first before they can help others.

If you can't cover your practices expenses how will you take care of your patients? This is a serious issue to think about.

I believe that the economy will straighten out and energy independance will create work and boost the economy. So the next big ticket issue is healthcare.

incompetent in what respect...b/c I don't support McCain.

You are truly a fool if you think that...truly.

I never realized that there are republicans that truly think that "liberals" physicians= bad doctors.

Get over yourself and realize political beliefs have nothing to do with how well someone will be as a physician. You as an adult by now should be able to separate the two and if you can't well it is sad to know that there are grown people who just can't separate skills from opinion and you are in a world of trouble when ( if you ever become a physician) decided to enter the workforce.

Last time I checked all physicians weren't republicans...nor are they all democrats.

If you can't bring anything to back up why you support McCain...other than to insult others and insinuate that people will become bad doctors b/c they are "liberal" or support "McCain"....just stop posting.
This board is for adults who can think reasonable and debate reasonable without acting a fool.

Are you like 75 percent black or something and it would be nice if people would stop with the black thing aka "Arab" but this is America. I am hoping that those people with that racist beliefs are just a small fragment of the population and wouldn't influence the vote either way.
I would rather have McCain win b/c people thought his goals and plans were better than McCain and not b/c he is white or b/c someone can't stand the idea of having a black person or any other minority in office.

Also, people need to stop making McCain seem ancient. Yes, I understand that he is in his 70s but so was Ronald Reagan and he did just fine. People, look at the issues and be an informed voter. That's all I ask. I enjoy discussing the issues and lets leave the nonsense out of it.

Would you rather say that he was going to tear this nation apart?
What do you mean Ok...then what? What would you like to happen? Do you still want Rove culture still reign in Washington?
Obama promoting the idea of one America...regardless of income and political beliefs. I don't know why you are bringing up the Edwards when he isn't the democrat nominee.

Obama is good and so is McCain but totally different perspectives. I have nothing against Obama, since I'm a McCain supporter, but I just don't agree with redistribution of wealth. People are entitled to Life, Liberty and the pursuit of happiness ... not money and healthcare.

Most physicians today can't afford health insurance for their employees just b/c of the rise in premiums and therefore they have to past the cost onto the worker
. Most workers can't afford the premiums so many choose to go without which in my opinion is very dangerous...and what we have now and what McCain is offering in my opinion will not work.

I believe that the economy will straighten out and energy independance will create work and boost the economy. So the next big ticket issue is healthcare.

We already have gov't subsidized insurance....for those in congress, senate, military, senior citizens, and minors under the age of 18...the gov't could atleast provide the basic coverage for everyone and than people can choose or not to choose to get private insurance for the extra stuff. Which I think would be Ideal.

http://www.thehealthcareblog.com/the_health_care_blog/2008/03/a-detailed-anal.html

This article eloquent parts everything out...
Obama's key components here include:
* Establishing a new public program that would look a lot like Medicare for those under age-65 that would be available to those who do not have access to an employer plan or qualify for existing government programs like Medicaid or SCHIP. This would also be open to small employers who do not offer a private plan.
* Creating a "National Health Insurance Exchange." This would be a government-run marketing organization that would sell insurance plans directly to those who did not have an employer plan or public coverage.
* An employer "pay or play" provision that would require an employer to either provide health insurance or contribute toward the cost of a public plan.
* Mandating that families cover all children through either a private or public health insurance plan.
* Expanding eligibility for government programs, like Medicaid and SCHIP.
* Allow flexibility in embracing state health reform initiatives.

Democrats, like Obama and Clinton, tend to make an Americanized attempt at health care solidarity by crafting a structure that ensures everyone will be covered, not by a single government-run plan but by guaranteeing access to a mix of government and private plans. Clinton and Obama both understand that the vast majority of Americans are not ready to give up their private health insurance plans and that creates a political imperative to continue making private health insurance a part of any "unique American solution."

Costs drive down trips to doctor More people self-diagnose or do without in tough times

Prescription drug sales are slowing, and hospitals and doctors' offices are reporting more openings in their schedules.

Doctors say decisions to avoid visits to family physicians not only put people's health at risk, they also could lead to higher costs to the consumer.

When patients forgo or delay primary medical care, they risk getting sicker, increasing the chance of an emergency room visit or admission to a hospital, where medical care can be the most expensive, often costing several thousand dollars a day.

This is a problem....and market based insurance won't correct b/c if it did than how we wouldn't have any problems now.

Assuming you support McCain shouldn't you be worried about the fact that he wants to cut employee based insurance ...which will cause more problems since this group insurance are available to many people who have pre-existing conditions unlike those where you have to buy it individual. He says that he will give huge tax breaks...but with the rising inflation (rising cost of food and energy) and sluggish growth in income...it won't be enough. HOnestly, it is better to deal with the insurance companies as a group as opposed as an individual...strength in numbers.

For example...My Dad had a heart 3 years ago...and the only reason who is able to get an insurance was b/c it was provided through his employer...now if he was to try to get one on his own my dad would not be able to afford it b/c of the high premiums if any insurance companies decided to cover him at all.

How would the McCain $5,000 tax cuts support those who have to pay $12,000 a year? What about those who are older than 65 years old...how will his tax cuts support those people.

You can't honestly say that you think McCain plain is even a viable plan.

California healthcare costs surge five times faster than earnings

http://www.latimesblogs.latimes.com/booster_shots/2008/10/california-heal.html - 60k -

Plus with the rising health cost...you still are getting less and less coverage....so many people are basically paying more for nothing. How is this beneficial for the American economy and the health of her citizens.
The healthcare insurance watchdog group released its analysis Wednesday of private healthcare insurance costs in California -- the latest in its state-by-state tally of how much Americans are paying for their healthcare insurance. It found that while the median earnings of California workers rose by just under $5,000 -- to $30,702 -- between 2000 and 2008, the average cost of an employer-sponsored family health insurance policy almost doubled, from $6,227 to $12,194.
And while employers shouldered the bulk of those increasing costs -- by all accounts a significant drag on businesses -- workers' contributions to their healthcare premiums actually grew faster, rising from $1,544 to $3,256 in that eight-year timeframe, according to Families USA.

The result: For an employed individual carrying a family policy with her employer, premiums have risen five time faster than earnings. And that rise has claimed much of California workers' meager pay hikes since 2000.

http://www.recordnet.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20081016/A_NEWS/810160345/-1/A_BIZ
For family health coverage provided through the workplace, annual health-insurance premiums rose from $6,227 in 2000 to $12,194 in 2007 - an increase of $5,967, or 95.8 percent.
» From 2000 to 2007, median earnings for workers increased from $25,740 to $30,702 - up just $4,962, or 19.3 percent.

What would you do to solve this situation b/c many Americans simple can't afford insurance anymore and if they do get insurance they are not getting the same coverage/benefits that they would have gotten at the same price 5 years ago.

That would be nice but then middle America is filled with people like this:

You're going to offend a lot of people from middle America saying that where they live is filled with ignorance. Someone could just as easily produce a number of ignorant, bigoted statements from the democratic base as well. There are people marching to the booths from both sides who are equally uninformed/ignorant/bigoted. Trying to put all of America's bad qualities under one political party is one of the main problems in America.

👍

You are truly a fool if you think that...truly.

I never realized that there are republicans that truly think that "liberals" physicians= bad doctors.

This board is for adults who can think reasonable and debate reasonable without acting a fool.

another hot headed liberal ready to throw down the insults. Real mature.

Did I say republicans or did I say middle america.

Don't get it twisted.

Look at the democrats in West Vigina during the Democrate primaries....this are the people that Obama has to deal with.

I never said that all Republicans are racized...please don't put words in my mouth and read what I posted...b/c I said middle america..not republicans or democrats.

Got a new one for today from some Republican lady in California.
Local GOP Group's Mailing Shows Obama's Face, Watermelon, Ribs, Fried Chicken on Food Stamps

October 17, 2008 8:17 AM
The Press-Enterprise in California reports that a recent newsletter of the Chaffey Community Republican Women, Federated, in California, envisions a President Barack Obama putting his face on food stamps, surrounded by a watermelon, ribs and a bucket of fried chicken.

"Obama talks about all those presidents that got their names on bills," reads the newsletter. "If elected, what bill would he be on????? Food Stamps, what else!"

I just want to say look where the Republicans have gotten us this far....nowhere but economic ruin. I think obama said it best "if you keep hitting your head against the wall over and over and it keeps hurting eventually you will stop hitting your head against the wall". Try something new. I am going for the candidate who I believe will actually do something for ME. I dont want someone who is just talking but is not going to do anything. Obama O8👍
