Who's expecting an Oct 15th notification?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
and everyone, for the sake of your sanity, bear in mind that even if you don't hear a peep on october 15th exactly, this doesn't mean you're outright rejected or they've lost your file or whatnot. some schools won't tell ya over the phone and you have to wait for the letter. (stalk the mailman. leave him cookies, for SURE) 😉

decisions are made alllllllll the way thru till march, and even then, waitlist decisions are made alllllll the way thru july or so. i interviewed at one school on nov 1st last year and didn't hear from them until well into march. i interviewed at another school in early september and didn't hear from them (wasn't waitlisted) until december. i heard from michigan a month after i interviewed there. it's a long winter, folks. hate to break it to ya, but even if a school does send out some notifications on october 15th, that doesn't guarantee you'll be getting any word one way or another. even rolling admissions vary. some roll in clumps. (i.e. northwestern's december and march clumps)

best of luck, everyone, and try to maintain your sanity. 🙂 go exercise. eat chocholate. drink a beer. have some "me-time." 😉 whatever floats your boat to getcha by and get your mind off things.

ok..so heres the question...lets say we dont get any emails/calls on the 15th. is it ok to call the schools that we interviewed at and ask really politely when we can expect any notification (of if they've made a decision already)? i don't see anything wrong with this, but just wondering what you guys think....

I see nothing wrong with this...granted, most do not convey these messages over the phone but it wouldn't hurt in case of an error in sending out mail (i have had 2 problems with this so far).

UF & USF are supposed to tell us something on 10/15: accept, reject or hold. of course, most of us will probably be put on hold, but these two schools are definitely planning to do some admission on 10/15.

Hi premed2,
First off I think med schools will be calling such a good applicant as you on Oct 15th. That said, even if they do not, it probably has more to do with administrative backlog than anything else. They might say this straight up if you call them.

While I think its probably best not to call if you dont hear anything, you definitely want to send a letter within the next month telling you top schools youre still interested-- this is NOT a LOI.

Good luck, hope everything works out!

Wake Forest was pretty straight forward....at the interview they said that the full committee would meet on the 15th and applicants would be notified within the week by mail.

So I hope to receive a letter (accepted, waitlisted, or rejected either way). GOOOOOOOOOD, I hope I get in. It would make an awesome birthday present!!!!😀

Gettin 3 early interviews made me feel pretty optimistic about my chances... but it's been 2 weeks, and I haven't heard anything back from anywhere... one school put my on hold for an interview... damn...

I'm waiting to hear from Pritzker, Vandy, and AE... on the 15th... 🙁

Kwanny,

I was at AE today and they said they don't notify until around january, so it looks like we've got a bit of a wait.

Southwest flies everywhere and usually has one flight around 7pm or after that you can take after an interview. Its definitely possible, and maybe should be recommended, to leave after your interview. You can bring your suitcase with you and leave it at the admissions office.

I definately second the motion for late night SW flights. As an added bonus, they are almost neurotically on time! I know am becoming a SW pro from all these interviews and have talked to a few flight staffs. Don't expect perfect timeliness if your flight is at 4 or 5, but at 8pm you are good to go.

Only 34 more hours!!! (I'm not as exact in my countdown as those MCAT kids 🙂 )

I interviewed at Michigan State......(a Cali applicant) on 10/9 and I am expecting to hear something Wednesday. They said they were going to review our files tomorrow and let us know the day after.

So I am nervously expecting some news.
Hopefully it is good so that I can start taking schools off my list.

yeah im waiting for three schools this week, but one of them MCW mailed their letters last friday, why did today have to be a mail holiday! so typical. im sooo nervous. i am stalking the mail, my mailman is gonna start sending me some serious hatemail! good luck everyone

michigan state lets you know right away, typically, if you've been accepted or waitlisted. rejections they sit and mull over longer. 🙂 good luck!
