I wonder about how you define "intelligence."
I certainly don't mean anything esoteric by 'intelligence', just common usage. I guess I wonder how YOU are defining it if you feel that it's innaccurate (or worse, an insult) to defer from applying this adjective to folks who are mentally ******ed ??
And further, I felt the picture was subtly implying ineptitude, that the kid was getting the prize even though he was inept as a way of saying "okay okay you win."
The child was not getting a prize 'even though he was inept'; I assume it was awarded for achieving a Boy Scout goal, based on the picture. The child was probably receiving recognition of legitimate accomplishements. Rather, the implication was that the poster got a prize for being intelligent. The characterization of a person who is recognizably not intelligent then demonstrates the sarcasm behind the 'award'.

It's like arguing that someone is skinny, then posting a pic of, say, Kate Moss accepting an award, and saying, 'okay, okay you win. Here's you accepting your award". No one is insulting Kate, she IS skinny. They are just using her recognizability as a skinny person to make their point.

That's how it seems to me.

all the 🙄 was supposed to mean was that this topic has been covered ad nausem-- you aren't going to change anyone's mind here one way or the other. perhaps a /sigh would have been mroe appropriate, lol.

As a nurse who has worked with hundreds of doctors, (DO and MD ) I firmly belive THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE!

Doctors do not sit around and hash out their "philosophies." They don't have time to do this!!! I know of no DO who uses OMM. I've met good MD's and bad. Same for DO's. I've met good foreign MD's and bad. There just isn't the differences you all seem to perceive when you are talking "real world."

I basically agree, although I have talked to a number of 3rd and 4th year DO students who suggest that their palpation skills are keener and more finely tuned than their MD counterparts simply because they spent/spend so much time learning/practicing OMM. I do know a few DO's who regularly use OMM on patients, but most that I know do not. Lastly, I also know a few DO's who choose not to do OMM because they know if they begin using it, they're days will be filled with patients only wanting OMM, and they don't want to do that.
