First off--do you already have a B.S.? If you do, then admissions will give you a bunch of leeway with their CORE courses.
However, if you do not, then yes, they do have very particular prereqs. They will work with you to see if courses you have taken can be substituted for their CORE classes though.
I hope they do change their pre-req requirements to be more general (although I haven't heard about this). I made numerous calls to admissions over the past couple of months to get credit for some of their courses. I would suggest calling up admissions to see if certain courses you've taken already will meet their CORE program. Otherwise, you might get stuck taking several courses over their summer sessions before you start. They did say that the Studies in Race CORE course can be taken in your 3rd professional year. Also remember that if you have 3courses of a foreign language then you don't have to have two courses in international studies. However, if you do not have a degree already, you must have Macroeconomics (either macro or micro is accepted if you already have a degree--at least that's how it worked this past year). Also they didn't accept psychology courses as a substitute for any of their CORE courses.
Give admissions a call. See if they can work with you and if not, then you'll just have to decide if you want to go the extra sememster to fill up the pre-reqs.
