Why can't I sit for 30 or however minutes after taking meds (minocycline)?

I know you are not supposed to sit after taking minocycline and other meds, off the top of my head those for osteoporosis. What is the reason/mechanism behind this? thanks!
 
If you're talking about Fosamax, I believe it has to do with GERD/Esophogeal lesions.

Minocycline, in addition to bisphosphonates, can cause damage to the esophagus if not swallowed and passed into the stomach. This is why the recommendation is given that the patient sit or stand for at least 30 minutes after taking the medication.

Minocycline can sometimes cause drowsiness / dizziness - so its important that you consult patients not to lay down after taking med... (not sure how really prevalent this is...)
 
Yep, like said previously with the bisphosphonates you really want to do everything you can to keep them from getting stuck somewhere in the esophagus to minimize the chance of esophageal lesions.
