Why do people get jealous of others who got in with low grades and scores?

If you get in, you get in. It doesn't matter how or where. The main goal is to live the dream and enter the glorious world of med school. So what if someone in your med school class has a 2.8 GPA or got a 4 in VR? They got in, there's nothing you can do about it. It's not like medicine is a cut-throat competition.

Same thing goes for DO/Caribbean schools. If someone failed at an MD acceptance but someone at a DO/Carib is cruising on by, noone should be jealous, they should be happy for them 😀

When you're a reapplicant with good scores and a stable emotional state, and you see someone get in because they've done more (or better) activities than you, it's hard not to be a little disappointed. I had a friend from chem lab that got in a year ahead of me (we both graduated 2010) that needed his hand held through pretty much every experiment we did. I had a better MCAT than he did, and yet he got in first. It's not so much a "I should be there instead of him" thing as it is a "If he's good enough to be a doctor, why am I not?" thing.

you've gotten progressively funnier without being too much of a jerk or a turd. keep up the good work.

I have a better question. Why do some people care that other people get jealous of others who got in with low grades and scores?

I guess my question would be why do some people care why some people care that other people get jealous of other people who got in with low grades and scores?

circle jerk...we're doin it rite

You med school people sure sound cray cray.

umm....hi Chainchomper 😉

Edit: how YOU doin?

hello to you too 😛

I love how shallow peeps can be. If a scrawny nerd was to post, noone would care. But because someone like me posted, they instantly flock. Guess it's good to be naturally this good!

LOL. It is anything but "glorious". Wait till you start this fall.

Please don't tell me that is actually a picture of YOU in your avatar. Probably not the best move...

If your top extracurricular was listed as "ABS!!!!!1" it'd be your avatar, too.

That just might be him. Tin eye showed 0 matches.

Hiiiiiii! 😳

Well yeah, most forums have people as themselves in avatars. People who are happy with how they look post pics of themselves. Like on Facebook, or on sports/videogames/car/fitness forums.

That is true. SDN is one of the few places where people do not like to be figured out during the admission process and so forth. It would be nice to see actual people once in a while, but I guess most prefer anonymity.

There is just so much wrong with this I don't even know where to start.

Posting your pic on a car forum will likely not impact your chances to get into med school.

Well, why would it matter? Anything everyone says here would be said in real life too.

ooooOooO, op, jesuth chritht

👍

Doesn't do much good to reveal who you are on here IMO.

I think this is a legitimate question, so I'll try to take you through it.

I'm gonna be honest, you come across as kind of vapid on here. I'm not saying you are, but internet humor is nuanced you don't quite have it down. If someone at an interview recognized you from here the association would not be favorable.

But I wouldn't have wanted anyone to recognize me from SDN either. I try to shoot straight and generally treat people like people, but I'm also sarcastic and sometimes ignorant. I'm on here to learn, and while that's fine you don't necessarily want adcoms to see that side of you. Plus this is a familiar environment where you can have banter and flirtation and general human quirkiness that should be excluded from any interaction you have with medical schools.

Think about it, would you really want your interviewer to read the posts you left on this thread so far?

The OP may have been admitted already, in spite of any "low grades and scores" that may or may not have prompted this thread.

That's a pretty small pic, so unless he interview shirtless and carries that lamp around with him he'll probably be ok.

It is a small picture.

This is true, just making the general case.

After the interview, perceptions are still important in medicine, but my feeling is if people are really gonna judge you by your posts on a random forum, let 'em. The sheer awesomeness of your abs should offset any concerns.

Yes excellent points all around. For years I've been cautioning other applicants about bringing household furniture and light fixtures to their interviews.

Valid points. :corny:

I don't see what's wrong with my picture. If anything they should be happy when they see my pic. People who lift are goal oriented and motivated. Someone who is scrawny is just a failure at life and probably can never get laid due to being so anorexic.

Yeah, bra. Some days it's a real struggle to get that syringe up to ass-level. But cha just gotta fight through. *fist pump*
