In my experience in high school and in undergrad it was very clear that a large percentage of Asian-American students performed very well academically. While other ethnic groups, Latino-American students for example, had a significantly lower percentage of people doing well in school.

Is this difference mostly a cultural issue? Socioeconomic? Both? (I have noticed that Latino-American students that do very well in school tend to be from the middle class, or higher).

You really have nothing better to do on a Friday night?

Honestly, no.

I'm Latino-American myself. From my entire group of friends in high school, I was the only one to go to college.
From my group of friends in college, I was the only one to graduate. This is obviously an issue that plagues my community and I would like to know what SDN thinks about it.

I mean, what kind of answers do you expect from a bunch of pre-meds? Are you not aware of the contentious nature of race-related threads in pre-allo?
