I made a new post recently (acutally just yesterday) about Pharmacy and "stuttering" and how it will affect admission because a close frined of my sister is a stutterer but he is quite a genius and a straight A student. It was nothing derogatory or offensive but I now can not find the post anywhere.

Some time back I posted something about OSU that also mysteriously disappeared.

Check your PM box....

Anyway, the main place where the stuttering could affect admission would be the interview session where adcoms are concerned more about the person's ability to communicate a true desire for pharmacy. They are not looking for orators or professional public speakers, so it's not like they are grading him on form. The content is more crucial than the execution. So, I would have your friend practice during interviews and have him admit to the adcoms that he is a chronic stutterer but he has tried his best to go on. This way, they'll know that his stuttering isn't a case of being unprepared.

Well to be honest I wouldn't want to go to a pharmacist I can't understand because they stutter too much. However, there are some pharmacy position where you really only talk to a few people who might get used to the stuttering and understand you.

What positions are you referring to?

in the hospital pharmacy where i work, you could if you want do most of the computer work and signing off on medications. But most hospital pharmacists like to do the other social work also.

I guess stutterers can also opt for internet pharmacies or mail order pharmacies? But I am just wondering whether or not the ad comms will think a stutterer will not be a competent pharmacist like someone mentioned. One thing I noticed about this guy stutterer is that it takes him about 10 seconds before he can talk.

I guess even with IP and MOP, you have to do some phone counseling. Are there areas where you don't talk to anyone whatsoever?

Nuclear Pharmacists actually have no contact with patients what so ever.
So for someone who doesn't like or isn't good at communicating with people, there is a career in pharmacy that doesn't involve the generic, played out, over 15 year old statement of, "Like pharmacy has changed a lot over the years; excellent communication skills are vital for pharmacists to possess."

I'm not trying to say that it's ok for pharmacists not to have excellent communication skills, because it's not. Just be aware that along with nuclear pharmacy, there area few other areas of pharmacy that don't deal with any patients at all.
