Why do we need to fill out the TMDSAS when AMCAS covers nearly all Texas medical schools? Does Texas look more favorably upon TMDSAS or something? It just seems redundant money ploy to me.

We need TMDSAS to discourage out of staters from applying.
Reasons why TMDSAS was better for me:
- The TMDSAS activity description character limit is 300 (AMCAS: 1325 characters) - less to write.
- Cheaper ($135 for 7 MD schools)
- Can include two optional essays to all schools (resulting in fewer secondaries)
- Prompter customer service
Mississippi and Massachusetts have the right idea: in-state applicants only. After just barely making it into my own state school, all I can say is I wish my state would give it's residents more love like Texas. No other state accepts ~90% IS for their schools and has reasonable IS tuition.
TMDSAS = the right way to do it
