Why is it that evertime I get hosed on an eval

for clinical rotations. It is by a vindictive, unattractive, young female who writes a bunch of complete crap that is obviously not true while the rest of my evals are positive? And why is it that I can see it coming with the first words out of the residents mouth which seem to be saying "I am an immmature ---- and I am a resident and you are my student"? And why is it that in most cases all the nice looking female residents are nice people and write nice fair evals?

nobody wants to hear that a good looking person is treated unfairly. it might be true in your case, i'm not saying its not, but you won't find sympathy on these boards.

if you are indeed hot, than you need to use your looks to your advantage! do what women have and are still doing!! Yes! flirt with your female residents and attendings...turn on the charm!

Yeah right or maybe they have that little idea you just expressed running through their head like a permanent feeback loop and they play it for every single dude they meet. That and a bunch of other half baked paranoid crap. I sure as hell wasn't acting any different to them than I would have a guy seeing as how they weren't even slightly attractive or even slightly friendly. Maybe you have that little notion that all guys are "male chauvinist pigs" unless they are your own personal "pig" bouncing around in your head too. In my mind that puts you half way to crazy to think that every dude would or even should care enough about personal crap like that in a complete stranger whom they aren't even slightly attracted too. Nice is all I ask and it's all I try to be in a situation like that other than trying to perform well on the rotation. Being an "MD" is what just about everyone in med school will be it's not a license act like a mentaly disturbed 10-11 year old.

I must agree that female residents are much more likely to put their own emotional baggage into how they evaluate you.

Generally speaking, male residents are more straightforward--you go in, you do your job, that's it.

Women are higher maintainance than men. It's true in relationships. And it's true on the wards.

Me too. I agree and I am glad that this has been mentioned. My first intern totally sucks because she either ignores me while she sucks up to the attendings and residents, or she is all over me telling me her stupid personal problems. I would prefer it if she would just chill out and teach me something, anything. 😡

I am a woman but I think I probably act more like a man when it comes to professional stuff. See it, do it, done. Next. I don't care about all the weird personal sh&t. I can talk to my friends about that stuff. Most of my professional friends are male and my personal friends are female.

I'm thinking third year is totally going to suck, if it continues to be like this first miserable rotation. I don't think I am going to learn anything and I will have to constantly be dodging all kinds of stupid personality weirdness. I am way bummed and it's only been a week. Shoot me now ... 🙁
