Why is that vascular malformation not previous Herpes simplex encephalitis?

Both can be hemorrhagic-- the clue is probably in the question stem.
The Question is: autopsy of a 40 year old women had 25 years of well controlled seizure. what us the most likely cause of her seizure disorder?
I do not think that there is a key in the stem.... what do you think?
I think it is not herpes encephalitis because the outer layer of the brain is not disrupted... a previous meningitis would corrupt the temporal lobe cortex before reaching a deeper layer of the lobe.... still not sure about this analysis
 
You can see the blood vessel walls + AVMs can present with recurrent, even refractory, seizures
