So I had a friend ask me the other day "Why do you have to take physics to get in to dental school when it isnt on the DAT?" I thought that was a good question! Why do we have to slave away with physics?

you can also ask why QR is in dat?
But i'm glad qr is in dat rather than physics... physics in college was brutal. 🙄
believe it or not, there is physics in dentistry. you'll find out in the sim lab ^_^

Without knowing the basics of physics taught in general UG physics; I would doubt if the person knew chemistry or biology either. They go hand in hand. Better to lay the foundation before you build the house.
not really sure how this makes sense, dont quite see the link between these 3. didnt see one when i took either of the 3 classes and for the DAT (except during one part at the end where Chad refers to a few very basic physics formulas.) so dunno if i agree on it being an absolute "do or die" class.
I disagree. Although I do not like physics, Ive seen remnants of it in bio and chem classes. Same with bio and chem in physics. If your professors know how to integrate, its actually kind of nice, because you dont feel like the information was completely useless.
My physics teacher is from Russia and is super easy. Love that guy, breezin through it.
& I dunno why they require it, but I think it's good to have a general understanding of what physics is/how to apply it. Can be fun to think about sometimes.
They have to weed people out somehow. If it wasn't hard then everyone would do it.

physics as a weed out class?![]()
I'm surprised most of you geniuses couldn't figure this out like MrAvicii and DentalJedi. We all know among the 4 science pre-reqs (bio, gchem, ochem, physics), physics and ochem give students the hardest time. Only the most intelligent/analytical and/or diligent students can get A's in them. Almost anyone can get A's in first-year bio. Just read the textbook and look at your notes. If you do this enough times, even a turd will eventually figure it out. But these same turds can study physics/ochem 24/7 for the next n months and still be confused. These courses separate the men from the boys and that's what schools want to know. Who's the contender out of the pretenders in the applicant pool.

yes im a genius. but you're the type of person that talks trash behind peoples backs. go back to the hole where you climbed out of. im not really interested in your low opinions. ps in case you didnt know physics is usually taken by most people at easier schools and matters least in any application cycle. (ive never heard of anyone getting rejected from d-school due to their physics grades.) even my friends who went to MD or DO schools took physics elsewhere and mastered it themselves for the MCAT. And please dont compare orgo to physics. they are different animals and appear easy/hard to different folks.
but thanks for chiming in! you've got a very nice opinion, too bad facts are a lot more interesting and useful.
ps I got an A in physics but an A- in orgo, am i genius? nope but im smart enough to know what to focus on for my DAT exam.

What did I do lol? I compliment the guy and he says I live in a cave.
Ok, I see. He's just bitter because I wouldn't disclose to him what the interviewees were saying about him at my last school visit. I was trying to save him some embarrassment. Fine, I'll tell ya now:
Everyone said unanimously he was desperate and a complete tool on this board![]()
I did misread your statement you did compliment me, I am sorry for being mean! i am a tool! LOL 🙂 but its ok everyone has an opinion.
You've been misreading a lot of postings recently.
Apology accepted. Actually they didn't say you were a tool. They said you and CedarZ provided good entertainment in your battles with each other.
