Sarah Palin actually quit as gov. to become a non traditional pre-med student. I just read it on the internet (this is how I know it is true).

How funny.

I'm not certain if you're full of crap, or if you're actually telling the truth here, lol. If it is truth then that's a very weird decision on her part.

i don't know if she has the smarts

Proof? 😎

I read it on her myspace page or something.

I heard she racked up a lot of clinical hours in the last year, so her app is looking good as long as she hits a 30+ on the MCATs.

GPA is poor but Mccain is writing a LOR so that should hold some weight at GOP friend universities.

Senator McCain won't have as much influence as President McCain would of....she's srewed

You all do know that he is yanking your chain, don't you?!

Even if he wasn't, I don't think she'll make it far as a premed much less as a medical student. For one thing, it took her like 7 years to get her bachelor's (no offense to those of you who had to quit school or take extended classes to make up for a bad GPA), for another, she'll have to fill out all those pesky secondary applications and I'm sure she'll have to mark down "yes" when it asks if she's ever being charged with any criminal or ethics violation.

Speaking of which, I've heard that medical schools don't look favorably at applicants who drop out of their Ph.D. and Master's program mid-way. It shows a lack of commitment. I think dropping out of your governship will kinda raises similars concerns among the adcoms.

Given the current state of the GOP, I think she has been rallied to make a run for President in 2012. Or... she just may be utterly sick of it all. Since she has been back from VP candidacy she has been in and out of ethics trials, and it has cost Alaska tax payers hundreds of thousands of dollars. She has been innocent in every single case so far.

no no. You're misunderstanding. She quit to help the country. The country needs her right now as a Doc.

Just wait, you will see. It was an act of bravery quitting, can't you understand that?

This must obviously be a joke.

I don't think she's qualified to be a doctor either, but something about her personality is so annoying that she fits the premed profile pretty tightly. She's a gunner and will jeopardize anything and everything to get what she wants! So get out of the way.

One thing that I can't get over is that every time I see her speak on TV, I think to myself: "Is she mildly ******ed?" (No offense to those who work with people who actually are mentally ******ed). I don't know if you've seen her speak about her resignation, but I could probably give a more coherent speech than her if I was raving drunk and had a mouthful of Elmer's glue. Speaking of which, people from Alaska don't talk with her type of accent. I know people from Alaska and they do not talk like her at all.

I think she'd make a great proctologist!

She should definitely talk a lot about her moose-hunting experiences in her ECs. And her SNL skits. I've heard adcoms luv that!

She wouldn't pass General Chemistry I

Haha, I started reading your post and I thought it said railed. I was thinking to myself....for sure she is getting railed to run for president.

Wait....does Alaska have a med school? She may have to move out of state!

Hot news guys! I just read on Yahoo! answers that Sarah actually had finished the pre-reqs while in the Governor's office and put in her application last July!

She will be attending Howard University in Washington, D.C.

I guess my med school didn't get that memo a coupla years ago.

If memory serves correctly, she had a 4.0 in high school, but, like Obama, she never released her college transcripts.

I happen to think she's an outstanding woman and excellent role model. I also happen to think that about Condi and Hillary, even though I despise Hillary's political views.

yup, just chiming in to say (completely unrelated to the topic of the thread), in case anybody is reading this and gets worried--I was accepted to a bunch of med schools when I applied, and I had dropped out of a PhD program after only 1 semester
I just had to have a good explanation in my interviews, and I did, and really I don't think it was much of an issue

her ec's are pretty extensive, but I'd suggest some additional clinical experience outside of family....

Nah -- she can see a hospital from her house. If that doesn't make her qualified, I don't know what does.

I actually think she's taking the Dan Quayle approach that if you drop out of politics and disappear for a while, people will stop labeling you as a *****. And then maybe you can get a job teaching or writing or giving talks for big $$$. Her VP candidacy gave Alaska a black eye and there were likely a ton of local politicos who pressured her into leaving. That state didn't realize she was a laughingstock until she got thrown into the national arena, but once it's known, they were shamed into fixing the problem.

So yeah, if she can manage it, the nontrad route probably makes some sense -- she will be away from the limelight, and hidden in the wards for a decade or so, and have a lot more credibility with an MD after her name for whatever else she tries her had at. 🙂

I really expected better from you.

And since this really has nothing to do with being a non-trad, rather a Sarah Palin bash-fest, I'm wondering why this thread isn't in the sociopolitcal forum. Or any other thread that's a bash fest of Biden, McCain, Bush, Pelosi, etc. that really doesn't have anything to do with being a non-trad.

Agree it probably belongs in another forum. Disagree that Palin didn't do a lot more to embarrass herself than any of the others you listed, and reassert that she likely was pressured to retire due to the fallout of her embarrassing campaign. She was popular in Alaska until she got the national spotlight and Alaskans saw how she really stacked up. Now they couldn't be quicker to find a way to disassociate her from the state's good name.

Bad news, she got a 10 on the MCAT. The entire score, not one section. I just read it on Yahoo! answers.

I believe her verbal was the strongest though at a 4. BS 3 and PS 3. I guess she didn't complete the writing sample either, saying she thought it would be better for Alaska if she didn't write it.

There are always retakes, but so far it doesn't look great.

Its in the non trad section because she is a non trad student. I don't think it gets any simpler than that. Go read all about it on Yahoo! answers.
