Anybody have the link to that one Stanford med student's long essay as to why he loved Stanford? I remember reading it about a month ago, but I can't remember in what thread it was linked, and the search function didn't seem to find it for me. Thanks...

ah, thanks....hadn't seen you around the boards in a couple days....thought i might have to head to the MBA boards to find you again.

definitely. i didn't know the required clinicals were 15.5 months, though. that sells itself. i wonder if that's still true?

Seriously!!! I hope it's true...that would make for some awesome time to do whatever.....plus the SUNSHINE!!!! 😍

sweet!

"The required curriculum in the clinical years consists of a minimum 15.5 months of clerkships (as shown in the table below) and consists of flexible scheduling with opportunity for broad clinical experience and/or continuation of a scholarly concentration project."

The downside: It's in California, good luck ever getting in.

And I found it pretty funny that the author mentions that the med students get to wear long coats.

i don't think they have in-state preference. just one more way poor californians get the shaft . . .

yeah, seemed a bit silly. i guess it's probably less embarassing on the wards, though.

I think it would be a lot less embarassing to wear a short coat than be asked to do something a doctor, not a medical student, would normally be asked to do and try to explain to a patient that you're not actually a doctor.
