wats the point of withdrawing the application? is there an advantage, like do u get ur money back or something. why not just leave ur application in process

Lets say you’ve already gotten into your top choice, or some of your higher ranked schools.

Would you really want to spend all that extra money for attending an interview at a school that you would definitely not choose over one you have already been accepted to.

Or lets say you didn’t get the interview yet, but you know there is absolutely no way you would attend because of your other acceptances. By withdrawing, you save the adcom time and effort by taking your file out of the pile they are going through. This also gives another applicant the interview slot that you would have taken.

I withdrew an application after I realized I didn't have the prereqs. When I got the secondary I actually called the school and they said prereqs were not waiverable but they sent out the secondary just in case I could finish them. I didn't send in the secondary and withdrew the app. I could have saved AADSAS and DAT fees had I just been more careful to begin with.
