Will adcoms have a problem with me not taking more than 15 credits any semester of undergrad?

I've taken 15 credits exactly every semester. Will adcoms view this as a bad thing and assume that I can't handle the medical school courseload?

I've never had a reason to take more than 15 credits/semester, because it doesn't affect when I graduate.

I hope not, I've always taken about 12-15 credits. I have seen a few SDN crazies admit they take about 18-20 credits and manage to grad with a 3.5+, but that seems to be a minority.

I'm just a little surprised that you were able to pull off that...with lab classes and other classes that aren't 3 credit hours.

I really can't see a way it would hurt you. If you never took more than 12 I might see it being an issue considering that's barely full time

My premed advisor told me the same thing. She also said I wouldn't be ready to apply last year... Well I'm starting med school in July. I took 13 credits my last 3 semesters.

My premed advisor told me the same thing. She also said I wouldn't be ready to apply last year... Well I'm starting med school in July. I took 13 credits my last 3 semesters.

This is why, in some cases, the SDN hivemind is a better pre-med advisor than the people who officially hold that position. 😛

There is a still widely-held, incorrect perception by students and advisors that biology majors are favored or expected by medical schools, and thus non-biology majors somehow have to overcome this. Acceptance data does not support this. Dont get worried about it

I'm a chemistry major, and the only thing I'm now concerned about is that my 2 past semesters were 13 hours, and 3 of them were for research (granted I spent a lot of time in the lab, 4 days a week on average). I will still graduate on time (4 years) because of the credits i had coming in to college (much of which does not entail prereq classes), and I've completed the courses needed for a history minor at my school. If three of my hours next semester are research (which they will be for either credit or pay), should I just make sure to take around 16 hours just so it's perceived as rigorous enough?

I was at 17 and 15 for my two earlier semesters, and 11 hours for a summer study abroad
