I just want to get some of your opinions on this. I already submitted my application and was wondering whether to retake the DAT before interviews. This is my second time applying. I got waitlisted at UF and LECOM last year. Here are my stats:
DAT
17 - PAT
16 - QR
20 - RC
21 - OC
19 - GC
20 - BIO
19 - AA
20 - TS

GPA: 3.54, sGPA: ~3.3

About 250 hours volunteer, over 300 hours of shadowing, over 100 hours of research at UF dental school, piano and guitar player.

I personally think you will be alright, your gpa is pretty average and your test scores are above average. Just be aware that some schools have a cut off at 17 for certain scores so be aware when you are applying to schools. It would just be a waste of money. Good luck!

Are these the same stats you applied with last year?

Yeah, this was my question too. If these are the same scores you got wait listed with is there anything you have done to improve your application for this year?

Yes they will negatively affect your chances

How many interviews did you receive last cycle? If it was only two and you were wait listed than I would definitely consider retaking the DAT. Your sci gpa is a little low and your DAT score is almost average for incoming dental students.

Also you might want to bring up that sci gpa somehow during the next school year.

They're not exactly the same. My GPA and sGPA were about 0.5 points lower, I had approximately 50 hours less in volunteering and 100 hours less in shadowing, and no research. Also, I applied in September and about 5 of the 9 schools I applied to sent me letters that they were full already.

Where did you apply other than UF and LECOM? Why did you wait till now to consider retaking?

And yes, I think your PAT and QR scores may affect your chances negatively. Not sure I'd have gone for a retake myself though, unless I was confident I could not only improve those sections (PAT easily improved, QR I'd be afraid of remaining the same or going down), but also maintain the others. If you're confident about the above, then I'd retake, though know that it will be some time before the schools see your new scores.
