will the L screw me in any way? or am i right in thinking that it's irrelevant?

I feel ya. I got an 34M. I'm a little worried about the low writing sample score, but everyone says the ws doesnt really matter. I hope so!

It is usually irrelavent because most people are assume to know how to write reasonably. I thought an L is the lowest for the writting section, that mean you can't write for **** because they are extremely easy with that grading. Hope it won't be a problem for you guys.

Not a problem, J is the lowest btw. I know people who got into Wash U (The biggest mcat ***** of all) with an L.

I hope so, too. I got 34M with a (9 in VR). English is not my native language. Do you think adcoms care?

aye k, howbout a 36 O...and I'm a mofo English major...I write VERY well...so irritating. I was warned that the WS section kills a lot of "good" writers because they don't write what the MCAT wants...guess I didn't.

I had been getting "5's" and "6's" on the practice essays (word up to my Kaplan Krew), but I finished off with a acceptable but still unexpected Q. Rest went ok... PS 12 VR 11 BS 12 35. I don't think an L is anything to worry about though...

How come the one section I do good in is the one that doesn't count? I just don't understand it.

MOST ADCOMS DON'T CARE ABOUT WRITING SAMPLE!!!!!!!!!

Just capslocked to emphasize.

But seriously, most adcoms don't give a crud about your writing if your numerical score is high. That has been what I witnessed with my friends that went through the process.

Sort of true. An adcom member (of a high ranked school) indicated to me that they don't care about the writing sample unless it is unusually low. If so, it might hurt. He didn't say what his cut off letter for that was, though. I would think that with a very high numerical score, you should still be able to get in the door someplace.

I'm a Patent Examiner that writes technical legal documents daily that are read by attorneys and judges. I'm very good at my job, yet I scored a K here. Looks like I got the lowest so far. Even the english as a second language poster did better than me. I swear they had to have mixed my essays up with someone elses. But if I pay for a re-score there's no guarentee the don't re-read the wrong one. You have to not even know how to form a sentance to get a K, it just doesn't make sense.

No its totally true. Plus the prompts and time you have to write them does not do justice to something that you write when you have time to write a well thought out argument and paper. So I can understand. However, that said, an M or N will not hurt you in the long run. So don't worry and enjoy your parties. Then let the rest of the neuroses settle back in for applications if applying this year.
I'm not worried. The way I write is not very conducive to this style of prompt, unfortunately.

Who knows? Some of this is so random. Not to be arrogant or anything, but I'm a much better writer then 40th percentile.

It's not even bragging for me to say I know I have to be a better writer than 1 percentile.
