Background: I have an AAA degree from five years ago, GPA 3.61. Right now I'm im knocking off prerequisites at a community college, and i'm set to transfer to university in the spring. The goal is to get in to med school for 2012. If I apply during summer the summer of 2011, I'll have six quarters under my belt at the time I apply. My transcript should look like this:

Winter 2010
pre-calc (I know I know... it's been a few years alright)
general chem 1
biol 180

Spring 2010
calculus 1
general chem 2
biol 200

Summer 2010
calculus 2
general chem 3
biol 220

Fall 2010
ochem 1
physics 114
genetics

Winter 2011
ochem 2
physics 115
biology course

Spring 2011
ochem 3
biology course
something else

Do you think that will be enough for a competitive application? I can possibly add an extra quarter on there (summer 2011) but don't like the idea of applying in the fall.

When traditional students apply, they usually have 3 years/terms of coursework. You have two years worth, but you said you had an AAA from a while back? All the classes you took for the AAA need to be reported on AMCAS, so you'll have more than the 6 quarters. Do you plan on completing a BA/BS? Most schools do not require a BA/BS, just 90 hours of coursework. That being said, 99+% of med students have a BA/BS. Even if it means an additional year, I would say you should try to get a degree.

You can apply without having all your classes completed. When you apply, you can say that you are planning on taking a class in the future. You do not need to wait until you have taken the class to apply. The future classes are not binding, so if you don't take one for whatever reason, the school cannot go and say, hey, you didn't take the class, we revoke your acceptance.

I'll complete the BS in the year betwen application and matriculation.
Thanks for the response.
