I'm getting sick, and might need tissues during the test. Will they let me have it with me? I can't really imagine them not letting me, how do you expect somebody with a bad cold to sit there without tissues?

And there's no way I can have water with me during the test? Even if I'm coughing to death?

No water. I saw one guy take a gazillion tissues into the room with him, but it was provided by the test center. They check your pockets, so make sure you leave everything in your locker.

Hope you feel better!

Sadly, they have shown a long history of not allowing tissues (or water, or eyedrops, or asthma med, etc...). I suggest doing the second-grader trick of wiping it on your sleeve. Maybe bring multiple sweatshirts to trade out during the breaks between each section. It's gross, but who cares? It's your MCAT! Sucks that they are like that at most centers, but it's better to know in advance and plan accordingly.

they should have tissues that you can take into the room with you. But no water or anything else. If you are really bad you can call for accomodations but its only 60-70 minutes at a time right. In the breaks, you'll get access to whatever you need. Once the time starts ticking, you likely won't notice that you're sick.

Yeah I gotta say back in the day the testing center I was at would not allow tissues at all. I asked for a couple of their tissues and they said no. I used my sleeve and 25 people listened to me sniff snot for hours on end. Good times.

You're not allowed to take anything in with you. I wanted to take tissues with me into the room but they wouldn't let me, even though I had a stuffy nose. Jerks. Guess I did the old fashioned wipe it on your sleeve.

You stay classy San Diego.

nope, to improve your score i would actually suggest that you have a friend who is really annoying check your pockets and take your fingerprints every time you take a break. if my score ends up being lower than my aamcs, i can tell you that b**** is the reason.

I specifically asked this question and had kleenex in my pocket. They said no and made me put it in my locker.

This of course is bull****. I did not want it for myself, I was just taking it in case the person next to me kept sniffling. How annoying would that be? Sniff.....sniff....the entire test. I'd want to kill them.

Do people around you a favor and sit as far away as possible if you have the sniffles.

And now I just remembered, I heard someone rip a fart right behind me in Culver City on 9/4. It was funny but pretty gross. Probably did it on purpose to distract people.

They'll let you have a tissue after you've finished taking the MCAT. What you do with it depends on how well you studied for the exam.

There's some OTC medication you may want to look into.

LOL how true.

Actually, if you have time, you could ask your doctor for Atrovent. Its a nasal spray that will prevent the runny nose (also not sure how much it costs for an appt down there, I'm canadian so its no charge here.......couldnt resist). I'm not sure how well works for different illnesses though. I've broken mine 3 times so the runny nose is a daily fact of life, but the atrovent keeps it at bay.

again, honestly, when i was writing the mcat you coulda cut off my leg and i woulda kept on taking the test. Don't psyche yourself out cause of the sniffles or whatever. you're already losing focus cause of this unimportant stuff.

Most likely.

they have tissues at the testing center. Put a few cough drops in your pocket, you'll probably be fine. I had gum....
