I just read a post in one of the threads in this forum, and someone said that Allied Health courses did not count towards the Science GPA. I'm not sure if CLAB counts as Allied Health or not, but if it does, that really sucks for me considering I have 40 hours of science courses that are labeled (CLAB). I'm not sure if CLAB (Clinical Laboratory Science) falls under the realm of what is considered to be included in the science gpa for DO medical schools. Can anyone give me a helpful link or just tell me what you know. CLAB is the exact same thing as Medical Technology. That's actually what my degree is in (Medical Technology). Some schools call it Clinical Laboratory Science others call it Medical Technology. It says on the FAQ's portion of the pre-DO forum that Medical Technology falls under the Category labeled-OTHER SCIENCES. I'm confused. There must be some decrepancy between what I heard and what is true. Please help me SOMEONE! I took some hardcore SCIENCE classes under this title:
CLAB 460- CLINICAL HEMATOLOGY
CLAB 464- CLINICAL BACTERIOLOGY
CLAB 462- CLINICAL SEROLOGY AND IMMUNOLOGY
CLAB 466-CLINICAL IMMUNOHEMATOLOGY
CLAB 474-CLINICAL UNRINALYSIS
CLAM 487-CLINICAL HEMOSTASIS
CLAB 479-CLINICAL HISTOPATHOLOGY
I have too many to list. All I know is that I worked my butt off in clinicals and as a result did quite well!!!
I can tell you first hand that these classes are better preparation for what you will see as a physician than anything you will see in an undergrad Biology, Chemistry, or Physics class. I hope like hell they count towards my science gpa because there was nothing non-science about the classes that I just listed.
Science GPA with CLAB= 3.53
Science GPA without CLAB=3.35 (This is why I'm so concerned) BIG DIFF.!!
Cum GPA= 3.47 (Just through that in for kicks)
