As all of you (some of you) get accepted to those wonderful first choice schools, as I can see by the Harvard, Wash U, UCSF, Yale, Cornell, JHU, etc. posts, be sure to withdraw your applications from your other lesser choice schools. These schools are the first choice programs for many of us, and I believe I am speaking for the great majority who have yet to hear from our favorite schools when I say that all of you super-stars withdrawing from your lower ranked schools will only help us to receive our decisions quicker.

I believe there are several threads on this already, but I'll go ahead and say it again.

Many people who are holding multiple acceptances at this point are either waiting on financial aid information or a chance to go on a second look visit. I know your thread said "when you're sure you aren't going," but the problem at this point is that many people haven't definately eliminated schools.

And anyway, the mysterious March 15th deadline has come and gone - supposedly meaning that all the schools should have at least send out enough offers to fill their class (with a few notable exceptions). Even if some SDNers do get into a top choice non-rolling admissions school, I think it's highly unlikely that you'll see any significant waitlist movement until after May 15th. At this point I think when you withdraw your app over the next two months will be irrelevant.

So I guess all the waitlist folk out there (myself included) need to just take a deep breath and hold on. 🙂

Definitely Woots- I totally understand that "sure" factor, as I have several acceptances myself I am keeping because of that same thing (and several I have let go). I suppose you are correct about the financial thing though- I was just speaking for those few for whom that is not a factor- as in, the decent number of individuals who are hell-bent on attending the school-of-choice to which they have already received admissions

I have heard some waitlists move early on, especially if you are in the "top tier" category...good luck to all waitlisted (I'm on 2 now have not heard back from 3 schools post-interview).😕
