Withdraw?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I'd withdraw as respectfully as possible. Does anyone else's project depend on yours? If so, maybe offer to help train someone new before leaving. If you really don't enjoy the research and it's taxing on your mental health, I think you should head on out. You've only got a few more months before the next big chapter of your life begins (congrats, by the way!) so take it easy and have some fun!

As long as it something you didn’t promise the medical school you would finish just cancel otherwise get their OK first

To keep this brief..I am a senior undergrad and have been accepted to med school (YAY). One of my reasons for choosing med school was due to my participation in labs for the last 3 years. I enjoyed research, even went to a couple of other labs, but recognized that med school is what I was more passionate about.

I submitted a thesis proposal a few months ago and even have made substantial progress on the writing, but have become unmotivated and uninterested regarding research in general. Furthermore, my participation in this lab has become draining, mentally and emotionally. I think that a much better use of my time would be to work next semester to save up money for a car/relocation/etc. and withdraw my thesis/quit research.

Withdraw the thesis and quit research? Keep on going?
Yup, dump it.

Withdraw the thesis. Resign from the lab in a professional manner. Find a job. Congrats on your acceptance.
