Hi Everyone,

I'm currently taking two different pre-requisite courses for two schools I got waitlisted in. I feel like my chances are pretty low for one of the schools so I'm thinking about dropping that course and just having the W on my transcript. Do you think this will have any negative affects on the other school I am waitlisted in regards to my application? Or should I just suck it up and stay in the class to avoid any sort of W in my last semester of college?

Thoughts are much appreciated.

It depends, what are your reasons for wanting to withdraw

If you have a chance of earning a B or A, then stay in the class. A 'W' won't look that bad but be prepared to explain why you have a W on your PTCAS application and when you interview schools. Why are you withdrawing?

I was just thinking of withdrawing because I don't really need to complete it if I'm not going to the school anyways. But I can get an A in it- I'll just stick through it. Thanks for your input!

If you can pull the A then definitely stick with it! Probably more beneficial in the long run to stay in it rather than withdraw. And who knows, there's still a chance you could come off the wait list for that school, and you would be kicking yourself had you withdrawn from the pre req they wanted!

I had 3 Withdrawls on my transcript when I applied this cycle and was not asked about them in my interviews. (If it helps to put it into context I applied to 10 schools, got 7 interview requests (declined one) accepted at 5 (so far - I need to hear back from one more), wait listed at 2, rejected from 1)) In my experience having Ws on my transcript didn't negatively affect my admissions so in that aspect I don't believe it would impact your application, though the others are right it will help to have an A in a spot where you previously had a poor grade (obviously haha).

Did you explain about your withdrawals on your PTCAS application in the background section? I'm about to e-submit mine and I have 3 withdrawals on my transcripts.
