So I already have a non-science BA and am currently at community college fulfilling prerequisites (taking Microbio and Chem) and interning part-time. My boss asked me to increase the number of hours I work (this is in a pharmacy-related industry internship), which would mean dropping my 3 hour long Friday morning public speaking class at another community college (not the one I attend for my science courses because this one offered cheap group health insurance that turned out not to be any good) and taking a W since I've passed the drop deadline.
I'd like to work more because, frankly, I need the money and it's a pain to get down to the other college and get back (they didn't tell me they'd switched where the class would be held until two weeks after I paid tuition). The public speaking class has been a pain so far because the instructor is sort of a mess and didn't quite communicate an assignment that was due very early on (not on the syllabus and I thought we just had to give a speech, not write the speech out, and she took off points when I didn't hand it in the same day though I was prepared and it was just a misunderstanding) so I might be stuck getting a B+ in what is an extremely easy class. She never returns my calls or emails answers to my questions. The school is more than a three hour commute to and back which is cutting into additional work hours that would be so helpful to me. I can still get 60% of my tuition back.
Part of me thinks a pharmacy admissions committee would understand that kind of W -- I have the opportunity to make more money at a place that is a plus regarding getting pharmacy-related experience and this is only a public speaking class. Part of me thinks an adcom wouldn't care about a reason why and would think I should be able to handle 12 credits and working easily.
Would it be okay for me to take a W in the speech class and take it over the summer at my local CC instead during their weekend course offerings, or would the admissions committee not be interested in the reason why and just think I was a flake for dropping it and taking a W?
