Currently on the WL for med school. I got a well-paying summer fellowship which runs until August 16th. That means that it would clash with my med school start date if I got in...should I forgo the fellowship? I asked if they can shorten the time commitment and they told me no. I'm debating btwn telling them about the WL and asking again (likely they will rescind the offer), or joining without telling them about the WL and leaving early if I got in. What would be the best course of action?

I would go with option two. No job is worth NOT going to medical school, but you need money and experience if you don’t get in this cycle. I say be selfish. Take the job and just stop showing up if you get off the waitlist.

I know...but it is a prestigious 2 month structured fellowship with a project/presentation at the end of it 🙁 If I don't fulfill this requirement, I wonder if they will even give me the completion certificate or LORs.

You likely won’t get the completion certificate or the LORs. But who cares, you will have an acceptance to a medical school. A prestigious summer fellowship does jack-squat for your application if you are already accepted.

I see...but would it not help for residency?
