I was thinking about working at a local restaurant for the summer, just to get a different experience. I don't need the money, but I feel like working a service job is a good experience to have. I only have like 150 clinical hours and 0 nonclinical. Even with the job, I'm planning on doing 3 hours clinical and 3 hours nonclinical volunteering. Would it be a better idea to not take the job and increase my volunteering hours, or would the job add any value to my application?

What year are you? Freshman, sophomore?

I think working + a little volunteering seems good. Some people need money so I don't think you should be penalized for not volunteering 40 hrs a week. Do what you want to do

If you are early on in the journey take the job- it's great experience. If you are getting close to the application cycle you really need to focus on bumping up those nonclinical hours.
