Spain has always sucked when it comes to the World Cup.

And wth, why is Japan of all countries on the poll? They have less of a chance than Paraguay, Uraguay or Netherlands have at winning, and they're not up there.
 
I can't believe no one voted for Argentina. I will bet money that Argentina will win this year. Brazil is waaayyyy overhyped. Just you all wait and see. You're all gonna be coming back here and saying hey that samurai person was right, we were fools 😛

Personally, I agree with you............. but I really don't like the Argentina coach. So I really DON'T want them to win............

If I could have voted twice then I would choose them. Brazil has been a long time favorite of mine since the 90s.

But I do agree, there was that one really bad fake... he wasn't even touched and he REFUSED to get up! It was only when they CARTED him off, he was like oh HEY look, I'm all better now!

Brazil has done consistently well over the years. I think they have won it the most times. Argentina wasn't on my radar until about 2002 but yea their coach sucks. I like Germany as well.

Exactly. Who hates Ghana? They are some pissant country in Asia....or Africa...or some ****ing where. They are too insignificant to really care about. But as you alluded to...I hate the game. I'm not sure what it is you disagree with.

I tried to get into the fever and watch it...I won't lie...but I got bored and started playing flash games like halfway in. Then watched overtime.

Is what Ghana did at the end of this last game common? Constantly pretending to be injured and bleeding time off the clock inappropriately? Why don't...I don't know...they consider stopping the freaking clock?

Real football and basketball are superior games. Us real Americans are spoiled. Such advanced ideas at work like the clock stopping whenever the ball goes out of bounds...rather than this ******ed system European football uses where people can stall for time and the amount of time re-added is completely subjective. And let's not even get into instant replay. Maybe if your stupid ass game got into the late 20th century it could address the potential for subjectivity screwing people over.

I once threatened to cut a dentistry student's testicles off with a pair of hedgeclippers back in '06. And that was way before I started donating.

I get away with a lot of things. But I've posted for 7 years. I've helped countless people with advice (my PM box was in the thousands before I cleaned it out.) I've endeared myself to the mods. I designed a t-shirt they sell in the SDN store. You have to EARN the right, young grasshopper. You can't just show up and try to be Mike.

I was hoping to have earned my keep before I reached STAT915 but I guess I will have to continue to give my valued opinion. Hopefully a pre-pharm mod doesn't decide to prevent that from occurring.
 
As much as I am rooting for Germany (I owe it to them, since I was cruel enough to support Italy last time around, when both the World Cup and myself were in Germany 😀), I doubt it would be them. Europeans have never won outside Europe... so it probably will be Argentina or Brazil. I like Maradona, he was the first soccer player I ever learned about, picking up a newspaper while on a long train ride... and I like Brazil too - I once ended up staying at the same hotel as the entire Brazilian soccer team and got to chat with a few of them, most were quite nice. 🙂

Not so sure how much coaching actually goes on in soccer but am not convinced that Maradona has enough experience to get his team through to the finals. With that said, I still like Brazil's chances considering their track record.
 
USA is out in overtime! We had a few great chances in overtime but didn't quite connect (obviously). Ghana has a great team, but I think Uruguay will show them up next game.
