I finished Step I not long ago and am still awaiting my score...

Unfortunately I had no sleep the night before since I was traveling and the testing environment was quite distracting with all of the typing, people running in and out, and door opening.

Overall, I had 16-18 questions marked per section; I didn't know ANY of these answers and completely guessed. I also missed a few very easy questions I thought I had correct, but did answer some of the random trivia-type questions. My exam was really lengthy and I had no time to review any question that was marked so I stopped marking on the last two blocks.

There were a few very easy questions (but wasn't sure exactly what they were asking since the question was ambiguously worded). I ran out of time on every section, missing an additional 2-3.

I estimate that I missed about 25-26 questions per block of 47 so I'm not sure that 47% is sufficient to pass. I know that worrying will not change anything, but I would like to start studying again considering I did really terribly. I am an average medical student and was grilled on my weak subjects. I finished 50% of Uworld w/ an average of about 60%. I didn't take any practice exams.

It seems that you need 70% of the test correct to pass, and 22/47 questions is definitely NOT passing.

Opinions?

Honestly, if your recollection is decently accurate, that sounds pretty bad. I know the default is for everyone to tell you that you did fine, but I think this is a situation where you might know better.

talk to the student affairs dean. they'll tell you some critical things like will they yank you midrotation once scores are received, their policy towards failed usmle's, etc. this is ALL critically important information.

Try to minimize the interruption this will have on your 3rd year. Try to avoid being pulled out midrotation, etc. PLAN ahead. Ask questions. Work with administration. Then, together develop a plan that includes sufficient time for preparing for a re-take, yadda yadda.

I took my test last month and also thought I did terrible. I ended up passing with an ok score, but while waiting i basically took on a strategy of hoping for the best, but expecting the worst. I spoke to my dean and asked her exactly what would happen if i failed (ie, being pulled from rotation, not graduating on time, etc) Are you currently free or in a rotation? maybe continue flipping through FA or doing some practice sessions so things stay fresh, but don't compromise your current grade either!!

i felt awful coming out of the test and felt like i probably failed.. ended up getting a decent bit over average score that were pretty close to my NBME and UWSA assessments. i also only got 2.5 hours of sleep the night before and marked 20+ in most of the sections. Trust your predictor test scores, chances are you will fall within 1 standard deviation from those.

i was anxious for the ~5 weeks it took to get my score and it all turned out alright
