I'm currently a 3rd year at a UC and my cumulative gpa is 2.72 right now. Should I give up my dreams of becoming a dentist? Or do I still have a chance? 🙁

HELP!

Kill your 4th year courses and maybe do some post bac.

Really ace the DAT. And I think you can land some interviews.

Will do. Thanks so much for the advice.

I'm in the quarter system. Do you know if I need 3 quarters of physics? Or is 2 quarters enough?

Just wrote this on another post http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=808667...

Your situation is a little different. You are later in the game. Is it impossible? NO! Is it going to be difficult? ABSOLUTILIY!

Admissions is going to want to see you ACE the next year of school. Even that will not guarentee anything.... As stated you will need to ACE the DAT. At this point all you can do is study like your LIFE depends on it. Because in reality it does. This can be a huge life changer for anyone. Don't accept a B or B+ in any of your classes. Aim for an A+... If you have to drag graduation out a half of year so you can strategically take your classes then do it.

But like I said in the other post. It is all about ATTITUDE! If you have the right attitude and the will then anything can happen. If you want it bad enough then you can have it.

Lets say you don't get in the first year... Is it over? No, absolutely not. Continue taking courses to raise your GPA. Get a masters or whatever you are advised to do by the schools so that you can get in. 👍

Good luck and best of wishes🙂

The bad news:
2.7 will not get you into dental school

The good news:
you have 1 whole year of undergrad ahead of you, if you can swing a straight 4.0 in this year, and maybe top it off with another year of 4.0 post-bacc, you can bring that GPA to more respectable levels (maybe 3.2-ish, and of course much higher science GPA)

Bottom line, if you want dentistry: quit your parttime job (if you have one), slow down with the partying, but definitely keep the girlfriend and get ready to work harder than you've ever done in your previous years.... You'll need solid 4.0s from this point on
