Worth applying to MD/PhD? (Stats in the thread)

Hi everyone, I had all of my PI's encourage me to apply to MD/PhD recently, and I am starting to consider it. I was wondering if I may have any shot at it
Background: Graduate of T20 college. Taking 2 gap years. 1 year for service and the 2nd gap year as a research assistant before medical school
Stats: 3.7 with a very strong upward trend. Postponed my MCAT recently after scoring 510 on the AAMC practice in hope that I get above 515.
Research: 1 semester of statistics research. 3 different biology wet labs for 3 years.
1-2 Middle author publication, 1 2nd author, 1 middle author for high impact journal from each lab. 3 poster presentations and 2 oral presentations total.
Here's the catch though: I did not do summer research. However, because of the time I spent in lab during academic year, I have around 1400 hours of research, and I plan to do a full year of research before medical school.
Other E/C: President in 3 different big clubs. 1000 nonclinical service, 1000 clinical service, 140 shadowing.

Just looking at these numbers only, would you recommend that I stay away from MD/PhD programs? Thank you!

Honestly, it's impossible to say without an MCAT score. If you get a pretty decent score, I'd argue that you're fairly competitive. You should get a LOT more sustained research experience if you can (nix the 1 year of service and do two years of research total instead) as, from my understanding, MD-PhD programs do like to see applicants with substantial research experience in one lab.

There's also a physician-scientist forum where you could ask this question and perhaps get better answers.
