Hi all, so I'm in a bit of a sticky situation. I'm a third time reapplicant and I need to write my MCAT for this cycle since my previous one expired. I intended to take it and score it on May 26th but I voided my score because I felt awful about my performance. As of now, the only thing available is a July 6th test date, which would make me really late again this cycle...something I'm desperately trying to avoid this last time around. I'm willing to fly anywhere (not abroad) at this point to take it.

Anyway, if anyone is ALREADY considering giving up their exam date for a later one, could you PLEASE contact me by PM? Your kindness is much appreciated.

Thanks for considering my situation and for reading through this.

Also, I'd strongly consider paying for your $60 exam change fee.

Thanks!

You'd "strongly consider" paying the fee for someone to do this for you?

That's like your boss sending you to a conference and saying he'll "strongly consider" paying for your plane ticket?! I mean.... Really?! The change fee would be an automatic thing for you to pay since that's what you're asking someone to do. Any compensation ought to be in addition to that, OP, and really, at this point in the cycle, anyone switching MCAT test dates with you would be at a clear disadvantage in the app process.

Anyone considering this offer should consider that they may forfeit their chance at a successful cycle (possibly an opportunity cost of $3000 in application costs + $150,000-500,000 in future earnings) as well as the possibility that the AAMC could block you from signing up for future test dates if caught doing this switch. (It's almost certainly against their scheduling policies.) That could result in an average of around $2,000,000 in opportunity cost. Just some food for thought. Be careful.

what's up with the smart comments?

it's really not that hard - if you're signed up on jun 16 and want to swap than hit him up; if you're not, than ignore the post. no need to put your smart 2 cents in every post

and it isn't "almost certainly" against their rules. sure it's not suggested by them; than again, it is also not not suggested.

in my undergrad seniors registration windows open before juniors. i had a buddy reserve a bio class for me my junior year. than we both signed on like 2am one night and he dropped the class so i could book it. are you going to report me? would love to hear your cleaver twenty "could" possibilities that leads to your mathematical equation where i'm kicked from med school and my loss sums my yearly salary multiplied by my life expectancy results.

Anyway, if anyone is considering giving up their exam date for a later one, could you PLEASE contact me by PM? We could definitely arrange something.

Does this actually work out?! What a great idea. 🙂 Not sure if srsly against rules.

Just a suggestion to be cautious. The AAMC has specifically said that signing up for more than one ID in order to fool the registration system (i.e., sign up for more than 1 MCAT at a time), if discovered, will result in cancellation of scores and possible barring from future exams. This could be seen by them as being along the same vein. I am simply suggesting caution -- esp. since this is a public forum and advertising things the AAMC may find questionable could result in stiff penalties. They've been known to be a bit irrational at times. I simply advise some caution.

+1

Applying late > Never being able to apply, ever.

Hey, I completely agree with you. I don't think anyone in a position to apply this cycle should really consider what I posted. I was just thinking of people who were people 1-2 years away from applying or maybe someone with low practice scores who was already considering switching their date up to July or later. I think I may not have come off clearly or you misunderstood what I was saying. I definitely didn't mean this as a disadvantage to anyone in the cycle.

Also, what do you mean by this being against AAMC scheduling policies? I only intended this to be like the following scenario: A friend signed up for an MCAT on June 16th. He isn't ready to take it but I am. We would coordinate a time to get together online and he would switch as he originally intended to and I would bank on people not swooping in to take that spot he just relinquished. It's hard to say if that's really against the rules, right? Let me know though. I don't want to wrong the AAMC here!

Oh I definitely don't intend to sign up for anything more than once or ask someone to do something like that. That's clearly wrong. I just mean that if someone is going to drop their seat anyway for June 16th if we could coordinate so I can pick it up. As I mentioned earlier, it is a risk, especially since I am holding a seat at a much later date and if I lost that in doing this...well, that would suck.

Again, I just want to emphasize to everyone that I'm not trying to swindle anyone into anything illegal. Also, I guess the title of the thread could have been worded differently. Oh well, can't do much about that now.

The point of this thread is this:

If you're going to drop your June 16th date, please consider PMing me.

Thank you!

Hey, I just checked the site and there are still seats in Puerto Rico. I mean it will cost you a bit on flight ticket, but its a great opportunity. It seems to be the only sites available other than Alberta, Canada.
If you do not have a passport yet, then Alb. Canada will not work for you. But Purot Rico is still part of the US, so, no passport required.. Good Luck,🙂

I don't understand why you're going through all this trouble when July 6 and even July 16 aren't even considered late. They're not considered early either, but their not late. As long as you submit your amcas early, then you should be fine. I actually asked a dean if July was considered late and she explained to me it wasn't. As long as you submit your amcas in early, you should be fine. It's only on this website that it's considered late... stop freaking yourself out.

Yeah, you might be right but I feel I have reasonable reasons for switching and figured it would be worth a shot. We'll see...

correct me if i'm wrong, but you'd have to find someone to swap in the same location as you as well...right? lol. this sounds awesome.

No, it's not actually necessary. I mean, I'm basically asking if anyone who is going to drop anyway to PM me. It's more of an act of kindness on their part to coordinate with me...more than anything else. That's why I'm trying to incentivize it by covering part of the change location/date fee.

Yeah, this obviously is much tougher if someone is dropping their date and site and trying to get something like July 6th, which doesn't have many options either. "Swapping" would definitely be tough. Should have used a different word! Yeah, it seems silly and desperate but it's worth a shot.
