Would it be a dire mistake to attend MCPHS rather than URI or NU?

I've read absolutely every thread about MCPHS (and some of them scare me) so I was wondering if attending the pharmD program at MCP Boston would be a mistake if I was also accepted to URI and Northeastern for their pharmD programs as well.

For the people who attend/graduated (or just know), where do you get to do rotations as a student of MCP and do you get good job offers after graduation?

Thank you in advance for answering.

hi,

i am in same situation . except i am choosing between prepharmacy year 1 @ usp or mcphs boston . what have u heard about mcphs ?
thanks

I've heard that they accept just about everyone, have a low retention rate, and a lower percentage of those who pass the naplex.

GO TO NORTHEASTERN! I went to Northeastern for undergrad and now am in the Physician Assistant Program at MCPHS-Boston and I hate it. NU is much better--actually has a campus and a college feel. MCPHS is like a high school. Please for the love of God pick Northeastern and you will love it!

May I ask... but why do you hate it? And by high school, do you mean like small and gossipy:laugh:? And how is it going so far?

Having tons of family members who finished from MCPHS PharmD program, I'd have to go with them (biased opinion). If you actually try, you'll go far in their program. And if you're into clinical pharmacy, Boston has lots of hospitals & opportunities for you.

Anyway, I'd investigate some more and come up with a list of questions. URI has a pretty good program too. I've heard some great things.

Overall, it's a tough choice. Just choose whatever school you're comfortable with. If your goal is to become a pharmacist, you will be one in the end...from any of those schools you've listed.

Are you asking because MCPHS is cheaper? I guess it depends by how much cheaper after all scholarships/grants. If it's only a few grand a year, might as well go to NEU. If it's a lot cheaper (10k a year or so), probably might as well go to MCPHS. I didn't go to NEU because the cost of living in Boston is insane and tuition was high enough already (though after all aid, was only a tiny bit more than USP). Don't know how high the cost of living is in RI.

From what I have heard and all the people I have talked to, NEU is the way to go man
NEU has great co-op programs

are you a high school student that applied for the 6 year, or did you do prepharm first
if you are a high school student, what kind of stats did you have? Im applying to those 2 schools as well
