I think biases might have been the wrong word... more so subconsciously linking her account with her history of schizophrenia when I'm not in a position to diagnose and therefore struggling (initially) with how to best help, because I believed that medical treatment might be a better approach to help her long-term than just going through with the reporting and forensic exam process (which we still did). but again, i wasn't in a position to diagnose anything or make those assumptions and i eventually recentered on the role of advocate.
