So....on my Kaplan diagnostic I took cold...

BS: 8
VR: 8
PS: 11

27
I couldn't remember my OChem or Electrochemistry for the life of me, but being a Physics major helped I guess. So I guess I should relax and not kill myself huh? I want to shoot for upper 30's, hope that's possible. (Please no one think I'm being arrogant, I just have no clue what to expect).

Good luck to everyone else studying!

I scored a 16 on a free exam in November they had at my school

I scored a 14 this saturday on the Kaplan Diagnostic... I'm hoping for at least a 30 on the real thing!!!

Well, took the free Kaplan diag night before last.

6 Bio 🙁
12 Verb 🙄
6 Phys 🙁

Really wish it had been 9,9,9. Hoping to end up with 9B, 12V, 9P. Anyone had similar success bringing up Biological and Physical sciences up 3 points each?

it seems like everyone makes 20's on their diagnostics...i made an 18!...i'm thinking this is a sign that i probably need to look at other options than medicine right now

Trust me that's a good starting point. it can be done. Are you in the Kaplan course?

If so, do all the topical and subject tests, esp. those related to the areas in which you are weaker in. Review all the material thoroughly and practice. Go over solutions to all tests and practice materials you take and try to find the patterns in what you are constantly getting wrong.

A lot of people tend to go as far as 12-14 pts. higher then initial diag. If that's your starting point, then you definitely have the potential for 36+

The avg people do on their first diag is a 14-15 range. Most people on SDN tend to be those people that are in the higher range for initial diags, because the only people who really tll their scores on SDN are people who are in 90th-95th+ percentile range of test takers. In other words, the people who will most likely score a 33+ score.

so it's not likely i can make 33+? i tried to ask if anyone has done really well on their mcat after getting a poor diagnostic score like mine, but no one seems to be responding, probably bc it doesn't happen

IF IT HAS, SOMEONE PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!!!!!!!!

i know someone who got under 20 on their diagnostic and 34 on their real one... stop freaking out, it can be done!! 🙂

Scored a 24 on the free Kaplan diagnostic that they were doing at my school. Hopefully I can improve into the 30s!

I just took mine today, and I got a 28:

7 PS, 12 VR, and 9 BS.

I knew I'd do well at VR because I'm a liberal arts major and I read a lot and write a lot of papers...I'd be a lot more confident in this score if while I was taking it it seemed like I knew what I was talking about...I'm stressed mostly about PS, because I took both physics over the summer and pretty much learned nothing...I'm thinking the only reason I got even a 7 was by blind luck anyway, same with the BS...my goal is high 30s, but i like to set my sights high... and then be disappointed later 🙂

How much do people normally raise PS and BS scores?

Its easier to pull up the sciences then the vr, so if you are good in verbal at least you are one step ahead of your game.

To pull up your score in the sciences, you should identify your weaknesses and then go ahead and review the material and do the subject tests. Then go and do topical tests. Do full lengths and all the AAMC tests as well.

For all the practice materials you do, review the solutions and look for the patterns in how they are structuring questions, the type of questions, etc. Once you get used to the format you'll be able to improve.

Starting with a 28 on an intial diag is not very common as most people avg 14-15 on their intial diag. from what I've heard at both TPR and Kaplan.

Furthermore, as I've stated before a lot of people max out at a 12-14 pt increase so a potential for a high 30s to early 40's score is definitely there if you are starting with a 28 with no studying. But to actually achieve that you need to study study and study some more and do all the practice materials you can do until you are consistently scoring well. even if you don't get through all the Kaplan subject and topical tests, I'd at least get through with all the AAMC tests both because they are more on target with how the MCAT is (even though the real deal will seem harder) and because they are better predictors of your possible score range.

Okay, I started my Kaplan Class late-Jan, I've been studying since mid-Jan, and I've been working my butt off (2-3 hrs a day at least). My diagnostic was:

7 Phys 11 Bio 6 Verbal

And I have so many practice tests I took one on Sat. (real conditions) and I ended up with

10 Phys 11 Bio 13 Verbal

Ive just really been focusing on Physical sciences (obviously my weakest science section). But I thought the verbal jump was interesting, does anyone have any experience with this? ( I did focus on using their method for verbal when taking the exam )

I've also heard the verbal from Kaplan is easier than the actual is this true? If it is does anyone know where I can get tougher verbal practice?

Just to boost your guys' confidence a little... my friends diag was 18, and he got a 37Q on the real deal.

My room mate's diag was 21 and he got a 36 on the real deal.

Huge jumps are not THAT hard.

However, if you have like a diag of 30, dont expect a 45.

It's not so much that Kaplan's verbal is harder as it is SO different than what the AAMC asks. If you want a more accurate (but not dead-on) try EK Verbal 101.

My original diag was a 9 PS 10 VR 8 BS. As of now, I sit at a range of

12-13 PS, 12-13 VR, 13-15 BS, on KAPLAN tests. I'd like to think of myself as a smart guy, but I'm probably no smarter than anyone taking the MCATs. This proves that ANYONE can jump a large amount of points from ANYWHERE on your diag.

Using Kaplan materials I have been able to jump quite a few points on PS.

I credit my VR and BS jump to EK 1001 Bio and EK 101 Verbal. I also do not use kaplan strategies.

I took the Kaplan diagnostic and got 11 VR, 9 BS, 7 PS. I haven't taken physics, chemistry, organic, or any non-psychology related bio courses yet.
Is an 8 point jump too much to hope for here? I really need a good MCAT to offset a less than stellar GPA...

I took the Kaplan Diag. and got a 24 (P-6, V-8, B-10)....then studied for 3 weeks hard...

I just finished AAMC 3R and got a 29 (P-8,V-11,B-10)

How similiar are the AAMC tests to the real deal ??????
Any helpful tips on getting up into the mid 30's ??? (especially PS help)

I noticed that 25% of my wrong answers were stupid mistakes due to fatigue at the end of sections.....50% was just simple stuff I need to review again or haven't learned yet (I'm in O-Chem II now)..... which leaves 25% of the wrong answers that were definitely created w/ the intentions of messing w. our heads....and I fall for their traps everytime.

Well the AAMC tests were previous MCAT tests, however 3R is not going to give you a good representation of the actual MCAT. The general conclusion most people have come to is 3R is too easy compared to more recent MCAT test. A more direct comparison on how you would fair on the real deal would be AAMC 8 9 and 10. Good Luck

I don't know that it has but it seems to me like you should be less focused on other people. The fact is that you've seen most of this before in your coursework. Study and learn how to take the test with that knowledge. Just work at it and don't worry about others. You should be studying a minimum of 2-3 hours between Kaplan classes outside of class. Also, taking some upper level bios would really help for BS... I wish I had.

I was scoring in the high teens on my diagnostics and got a 29 on my first take. Could have done a lot better with more studying, but dont trust the kaplan diagnostic - they want it to be low for their low-score guarantee.

If the diagnostic wasn't made as hard as it is, a significantly less number of people would sign up for Kaplan. I don't think the diagnostic represents the real exam.

I took the Kaplan test yesterday (2-10 to 5-2 class) for the 5-25 MCAT. Currently in Physics II and no studying at all.

P-9
V-7
B-8

Total 24

Not too upset with that, I think that the test itself wasnt that hard (to what I expected) and that if really study, 10-12 pts will be feasible. It just seemed like the ACT round II.

I havent been in any humanitites in a year, so my right brain has atrophied hence the 7.

Enrolled in the course and took the diagnostic yesterday...my scores were already uploaded to my suprise.

22
I scored a:
7PS
7VR
8BS

I think luck had a lot to do with it because I just took it cold and haven't had any of the pre-requs in a year. Physics suprises me the most because that was, I felt, my weakest area.

Verbal...I thought I nailed in on the diag (thought it might be my highest score) but got a 7, funny how this test works I guess!

just took the kaplan diagnostic

18 (5,6,7) lol

i was a week into studying via the EK home method and just decided to take it

i was expecting to score highest on BS and I did, the VR didn't seem too bad at all, i know after doing a bunch of passages I can increase my score, PS killed me though
