Do anesthesiologists write scripts for a pt to go home with or is that always left to the surgeon?

i've written scripts for patients and/or handed them pre-op meds. this occurs most often in the pre-op clinic. for discharges, the primary service (ob-gyn, gen surg, ortho, etc.) often writes discharge meds if the patient is going home same day. we also have packets we can give to patients when they leave which have 1-2 percs or the like until they can get their script filled.
