Writing Section making up for Verbal score?

Hey everyone,

I always had a problem with the verbal section, and I recently got my scores back with a 34 R, yet with a 8 in VR (13 in other 2). I've heard from a few people that with a low verbal score, they sometimes look to your writing score for an overall picture. Is this true? Will it hamper my app. as much as I thought it would?

I just looked at your mdapps profile---very impressive!! I think the strength of your application overall is going to definitely help make up for your verbal score. An 8 is not that bad--especially since your BS and PS scores are so high. As for writing scores making up for verbal....I'm not sure I've heard of that..but it certainly can't hurt you. I think you are going to do great--good luck!

I hate to break it to you but the writing sample is useless unless english is not your first language, then they want to ensure literacy. I think your score is impressive enough to woo most admissions committes, but there are some prestige-***** institutions that will reject you because of that 8, even if you managed 15s in the other sections.
