Anybody here ever get a W in a science class? For pre-pharmacy students, how do you think that a W is going to affect your chances at getting in? Are there any people who got a W, and still managed to get into pharmacy school? I got a W in Chem I and Bio II a couple years back, and I'm concerned it will come back to haunt me when I apply to pharm. school in a couple years.....

In general, W's aren't really bad---if they aren't included in your GPA determination, who cares?
Some pharmacy schools might not like those W's, but I wouldn't let tht discourage you from applying to all the schools where you wanna go. It's not like you can erase those from your transcript. All you can really do is make up for it with your CV and grades now. Forget about those. They are the past. Keep looking forward.

I can't see how they can hold them against you if you withdrew before the drop period ended. Some schools don't use a "W" and the class won't even appear on the transcript at all, so it doesn't seem fair to the students coming from the "W-using" schools.

At UF if you have a W or an F, you have to write a paragraph explaining why you received that grade. They don't offer grade forgiveness, so if someone made an F, then retook and got an A, they would count it as a C. Most W grades are people who were going to get a poor grade and took the W instead. Other schools might be different, so just check out the places you are applying to.

I had three or four W's and it wasn't a problem for me (they were never mentioned in my interview). W's certainly don't help your application, but unless you have an excessive amount I don't think it would pose much of a problem.

I got a W in a science class, and I also transferred schools..from a large prestigious university to a smaller university that suits me better. I'm hoping pharmacy schools won't hold that against me too much.
