Hello everyone 🙂

Like what it says on the title, I am on the Alternate list for Washington State University ... I've only applied to two schools, was granted only one interview at WSU, so WSU is pretty much my only way of potentially going to a Pharm School next year (or I guess in few months?!)

I've contacted the Admin office, but they said they don't plan to "rank" anyone on the list until "they have to pull someone from the list" - I guess that means when someone declines their acceptance for some reason?
I am trying prepare myself to reapply in the summer/fall (retake PCAT, try to find a job at pharmacy, etc) but I know for fact that I'll continue to hope to hear back from WSU until the first day of school starts in mid august 🙁

So ... just to mentally prepare myself,
does anyone know someone who was accepted from being waitlisted?
How's my chance (in realistic term)?

I am in the same boat as you, buddy. I know for a fact that people do get accepted from the waiting list if they are listed as high alternate (know several people irl that did and also on SDN). The problem is, I dont think everyone from high alternate gets a seat. 🙁

Pray and wish for the best... don't think about it anymore. I would also email your school a letter of intent. Our assoc. dean says it will push you to the top of the list for consideration. It is a must do.

Oh I am crossing my fingers, toes, and praying! lol

And I've thought about emailing a letter of intent, but I've already emailed the office a lot regarding whether I could know where I'm standing, my official transcript arrival, change of courses I'm taking, etc.
Plus the grad student I work with in research (who wrote me a letter of rec) wrote an email to the dean and the chair of admin committe after he found out I was waitlisted - not sure what he wrote, but probably was a letter of inten t on my behalf?? I honestly wasn't sure if that would make any real difference, but when he emailed me saying he is going to email the dean, he sounded very determined to do whatever he can do to make my chances better so didn't think telling him he doesn't have to was going to stop him from writing that email!
I guess what I'm afraid is that I don't want to bother the admin committee TOO much?? But what you said makes me wonder if I should write a letter of intent just so the admin can hear it in my word rather than someone else..... :/

I was in the same boat last cycle and I gave up mid July and start prepping to retake the pcat and reapply. I immediately got accepted into the same school that wait-listed me soon after I reapplied. I think it's better like this anyway because I had other obligation to take care of or otherwise very difficult to accomplish. Plus, I am enjoying my final vacation before the long haul.

How did you spend the year after graduation?
I plan to retake PCAT in sept, and also trying to get a job. I'm finding job hunting extremely difficult because I am specifically looking for a position in pharmacy but there are not that many places that are hiring ):
