I got nothin'. I'm waiting for it to say that my eval is complete, but it's not (post-interview, but only by a few days).

Hi All...

Did anyone receive online status changes today? In the past, it seems that the online system updated on Mondays too...

mdapp06

my status = decision pending. Interviewed in October and like jackie, I also had a stress interview 😡

Yeah, one of my three interviews was also a stress interview. I interviewed on 12/7...I'm hoping that I get a status change today!...and I really hope that I don't have to wait until January...

:luck:

They told us 6-8 weeks until we hear back after our interviews- and that doesn't factor in holiday time off. Considering you just interviewed two weeks ago, I'd say you might indeed be waiting until February. Sigh...

Thanks for the info BeanerMD! They didn't say anything about waiting 6-8 weeks on my interview day...actually, one person who interviewed on the same day as me found out this past Saturday that he got in. Maybe the committee only made some decisions in their meeting this past Thursday 12/14? If I don't hear anything by this Thursday, I might call the school for an update. But hopefully we'll all hear good news this week!!

:luck:

mdapp06

Cheers to that! I personally think they say 6-8 weeks to buffer themselves for administrative and US Postal Service delays (and avoid the wrath and phone calls of impatient applicants:scared: ), but my hunch is that they go ahead and extend offers sooner to the applicants they really liked. Let's hope we're two of them😉

i also interviewed on the 7th. the interview coordinator guy, garie, told us then that we should be evaluated in the december group. i got my acceptance package on saturday.

I interviewed on 12/6 and received my acceptance today in the mail. Good luck to all.

status just changed from decision pedning to

"A final decision was made on your application on 12-15-06. Please allow two-weeks to receive the correspondence in the mail. If you do not receive this correspondence in two-weeks, please contact the Admissions Office. No decision will be given over the telephone."

that sucks that no decision will be given over the phone - this could be good or bad news right? from reading this thread, it looks like if you're put on hold, you are kept at decision pending. but i assume, "a final decision" could be rejection or acceptence?

thats the same message I got and i havn't inerviewed yet.....this doesn't bode well

Just thinking- what do you guys think the cut-off was for the December Admissions Committee meeting? In other words, what do you think the last day for interviews would've been that an applicant would've been considered in the December meeting? I realize this is purely hypothetical, but since I interviewed right before the committee met, I'm trying to rationalize to myself that I missed the December meeting, won't be considered until January, and therefore have no reason to be freaking out that I've yet to hear good news like some of you lucky ducks.

I interviewed on 10/18 and the committee met on 10/19 and I was not considered at that meeting. When did you interview in December? Seems like the committee met on 12/14...

I have the same concerns that you have, BeanerMD! I interviewed on 12/7 and I know the committee met on 12/14. Since someone from my interview group was accepted, I'm pretty sure that the applicants on my day were reviewed (although I am hoping that they didn't get to my app, and thus I will be considered in January...). My guess would be that if you interviewed even a few days before the committee met, your application was most likely considered in the 12/14 meeting. But I would call the office on Thursday and ask an admissions counselor, just to know for sure what's going on. I plan on doing the same thing this Thursday. Hopefully neither of us have been reviewed, and thus neither of us should be freaking out 😀

Does anyone know if applicants who are put "on hold" during one month's committee meeting actually end up being accepted in the next month's committee meeting? For example, being put on hold in December, and receiving an acceptance in January. Are the turnaround times pretty quick for those who are placed on hold?

:luck:

Thanks for the info morriske! BeanerMD -- I guess this answers your question! Sorry for my incorrect hypothesis 😳

I was told that applicants do get accepted at the next month's committee meeting after being put on hold. It might be a rarity 🙁 I have supposedly been reviewed twice and no decision has been made 😡

I feel your pain, morriske. I hope that you get accepted soon! There is still hope for good news for all of us!

I don't know about you guys, but now I keep thinking back to my interview day wondering if there was something I could have done differently :scared: Oh, well. Hopefully they looked beyond my nervousness and could tell that I really like UIC!

did you call and ask how many times you had been reviewed? and if so, was the person on the phone nice? or was he/she like stop calling you obsessive compulsive pre-med freaks?!?!?)!#*@($&#

just wondering 😳)

Super helpful- thank you. I interviewed on the 13th, and since the committee met on the 14th, I'm fairly confident I'll be included in the January batch. 👍

I was accepted, which is beautiful after enduring four waitlists.

Best of luck to those of you who haven't had updates yet!

My status page changed today from " decision pending" to " a final decision, was made 12-19-06" I was considered in the November meeting, no decision was made, I received the no decision email, and i guess they made a decision on me this time around. Hopefully it's a big white envelope coming in the mail!!!

Just checked the status page - it said that a piece of correspondence was sent out on 12/18. Did anyone get this and ended up getting a rejection letter vs. no decision vs. acceptance letter? Thanks,

My status page change dto "correspondence sent" on Nov 20th then received an acceptance in the mail on Nov 24th. Hope that makes you feel better.

It says the status check is down for routine maintenance but its Wednesday!
I thought the committee meeting was 12/14...this is very mysterious. I was also reviewed at the November meeting and no decision was made.

SO it wasn't an acceptance, rather a seat offer in the Post-Bac program. I guess I have to jump through some more damn hoops to get into UIC. Very frustrating.

I'm with you guys.
Interviewed 11/28 and my status changed to "A final decision was been made on 12/19 ......" etc etc
I was doing ok before this, now it's all I can think about. I hope it's the big envelope.

Hi All,

Did anyone get an email from UIC today stating that no final decision has been made on your application and that you are still under consideration? Just curious 😉

I got that e-mail today as well but I interviewed in October. I should have gotten that e-mail in November! Now I'm not even sure that I was reviewed at th November meeting. They seem so disorganized...

Hey morriske,

I know how you feel...but don't worry about it, we will be reviewed again in January (at least that's what I was told when I called today). From what the admissions counselor told me, it depends a lot on who we are being compared to during the committee meeting. The admissions counselor also told me that it is not a bad thing to get the email...so hopefully we'll have good news in January!

Boo, I got no such email AND I did not get to speak with a nice person in Admin. Just not my day🙁

I'm with you now. Very disappointing. Why do they send the post bacc invite in the large envelope? I was all excited.

Do you happen to know anything about this program?

Just got my interview invite--I'm actually going on January 9th while I'm still in town for winter break.

I do have a question for everyone. I can't seem to find a good thread about this, but:

Are there major differences between the different campuses?

There are some threads about the different campuses. I remember reading them before I went for my interview, too, since I knew very little about the campus I was to visit.

Also, hooray- I am now officially "Decision Pending" (I interviewed the second week of December). From what I can gather, the committee tends to meet around the third Thursday of the month, if correspondence is to be sent, it's done early the following week, and people are generally hearing the week after the committee meets if it's good news. This, of course, is all hypothetical and only gathered from reading as many UIC-related posts as I could. Comments from the peanut gallery on this one? Can you tell I'm just eagerly awaiting word and trying to logically determine a timeline to ease my nerves?😳

don't mean to interrupt here, but does anyone have info. about how UIC handles pre-interview rejections ?

Myself and a few friends have been complete for a few months now and haven't heard anything...

hoping someone here knows more about this...

thanks

Anyone know when the Jan. meeting is???
Maybe tomorrow....

That's just my feeling 🙂

I do know of people that have been rejected already from UIC, so they don't necessarily wait till the end of the interview season to reject everyone.

I've been an "applicant in process" since being complete in late August. I'm becoming VERY impatient, especially since they said I'd hear something in 6-8 weeks, and it's been over 3 months. I've also tried about 5-6 times to get my status checked, and each time I've either been put on hold for 45min-hour or have been redirected to a voicemail box (and my message was never returned).

This is my top choice school, and I'm really worried .......

Anyone else in my position?

My status went to decision pending sometime very recently, but I'm not sure if that signifies that they are currently meeting, or if thats just a catch-all for "keep waiting."

At my interview on Jan 10, they told us the January meeting would be near the end of the month around the 29th and that we would know by the first or second week of Feb.

Same here.... I have been in process since august too. I am taking it as a sign that they do not want me.

My app was complete in august and i just got the interview invite at the beginning of January. Hang in there.

a woman in admissions told me that they were meeting next week, probably thursday jan 25th...and that once the meeting happens, it takes about 1 week to 10 days for the decisions to get "processed"...so i bet people will start hearing back beginning of february...eek! good luck everyone!

hey - whats the link to the status page for uic? i cant seem to find it...

thanks!

I need to find out if a few of my classes qualify for the behavioral sciences prereq.

Has anyone contacted UIC about this pre-admission? If my classes don't qualify, I need to start classes now. I want to email in class descriptions and get a yay/nay rather than have them tell me to send it to them later in the season when it will be too late to scramble and rectify.

Does anyone have a name/email address in admissions? Thanks, I didn't want to start a new thread for this.

Hey notdeadyet. If you have a question regarding prereq's you can email Dr. Jorge Girotti at the following email: [email protected]. I believe that is the standard email regarding questions about admissions so make sure to include your AMCAS ID# and include attn to: Dr. Jorge Girotti to speed up the process. Best of luck to you in the application process notdeadyet!:luck:

Thanks a million BioMedEngineer. This is exactly what I needed!

Hey notdeadyet. You can also call 312-996-5635 (press 0 right when you here the automated voice) and ask that you have a question regarding course requirements. You will then be transferred to someone named Linda who can answer all your questions and maybe give you her email address to contact her directly. Best of luck:luck:.
