I know its the nature of the process, but this waiting crap is KILLING me. I've been complete at UIC for over 3 months and remain "In Process." This is my instate public school. I think i'm qualified for at least an interview here, jeez. And either way, i'd like to at least hear SOMETHING. What is going on there?

Sorry. Everyone has their vent session every once in a while. Here's mine.

Trust me man I know how you feel. After being complete for months I got rejected via the Status page. I HATE Illinois.

same boat here, complete beginning of august, not a word.

Exact same situation for me.

I've pretty much written off going to UIC at this point, not that I really wanted to anyways. The chances of getting the Chicago campus just keep slipping away. I hear they usually fill it up some time in January.

Plus you're in to Loyola. 🙂 Congrats!

I interviewed there in October and "no decision" was made on my application at the November committee meeting. I called the admissions office and was told that the committee is being very conservative about giving out acceptances (due to over-enrollment last year). Maybe the Chicago campus will not fill up as early this year (or maybe that info was BS )

welcome to good old uic

That's really weird. I'm in-state, too, complete October 6th, and got my invite a week ago. Hopefully you'll get one soon! :luck: Have you called to inquire?

I called and was asked, "Well, what does your status say?"

When I confirmed 'in process' but asked if she could provide me with additional info because its been so long, so matter of factly said "no," and that was that.

I got the same thing from the UIC committee...they met but didnt make a decision. I thought like 80% of people got in after interviews...IDK...keep me updated.

Sorry to hear that...They may have been so blunt because you're technically supposed to call on Thursdays about status questions. I would try again then, hopefully you'll have better luck.

By the way, if you do call, see if you can find out where my application is, it's been complete there for four months. 🙄

I totally know where you're coming from, but look at it this way.

I figure they are taking a lot of time to actually look at everyone's applications. I think that's kinda cool instead of looking at numbers and saying "NO" right away.

Of course, they might do the numbers thing only, and instead of having admission meetings are having crazy parties too......

Although I anticipate we'll find out from UIC before Rush

(Been done since Oct. 12, Rush and UIC top 2 choices, still waiting)

I'm in the same position... I've been advised by current students and faculty to write a letter of interest. It gets added to your file and will be reviewed with your application in Dec., Jan., etc. etc.

It seems like some very well-qualified applicants are "on hold". Sure this happens everywhere, but it is a bit surprising when the stats say that 80% of those that interview are accepted.

I have heard (from reliable sources) that UIC will sometimes hesitate to offer positions to applicants that they assume will not attend...

UGGGGG- I don't like this game anymore 😱

Well i was posting what they said when i HAD called...it was on a thursday.

just a bump.....any of you hear back from UIC yet?

I sent a letter of interest before my application was reviewed in November...should I send another one? I was told that the committee is being conservative with giving out early acceptances this year.

Whatever, just let me in 😡

oops-double post

Same here--they received my secondary on 9/18. I called just before Thanksgiving and actually SPOKE with an admissions counselor. He said that I should just wait another 2 weeks and call back because they were supposed to have another meeting the end of November/early December.

Since then I have left messages the past 3 Thursdays with no reply. One time the voicemail was full and I couldn't leave a message--I'm sure they are swamped. I wish they could at least acknowledge me by saying "There is no point in leaving a message because we won't call you back" instead of just asking me for my AAMC and transferring me to voicemail...

Has anyone else heard anything about UIC or does anyone know when the committee meets next?

Just called again, the guy said the committe met/is meeting today!

Sadly he also said my app has been reviewed and I should hear in a few weeks. When I asked how I would hear he said...mail 🙁 Boo for probable rejection. DARN DARN DARN!

they notify you of acceptance via snail mail as well. Check your status page.

I guess I mean keep checking it over the next few days. If they met today, they'll probably update sometime between this afternoon and Mon. Good Luck!

So if the committee met today, has anyone's status page changed?

My guess is that we won't see any status changes until tomorrow after the regular system downtime tonight. At least it has been my experience that my status has changed on Wed or Fri after the system has been down on Tues. or Thurs night.

Yeah, I'm not expecting anything because I'm in the "no decision" post-interview category. 90% chance I end up rejected or on a waitlist 🙁

a question for you guys (i posted this in another thread, but nobody answered).....did your status change immediately to decision pending after you interviewed? I interviewed last week (12/7) and my status changed at the beginning of this week....

also, for those of you who wrote a letter of interest, who did you address it to (i.e. adcom or dean of admissions), and how did you send it (i.e. email or snail mail)? if email, to what address did you send it to?

My status chnaged to "decision pending" the week after I interviewed. I sent my letter of interest to the admissions office and it was addressed to the committee. Good luck 🙂 (let me know if/when your status changes to "a final decision has been made")

any update? my status still says decision pending (interviewed last week). are we positive that the committee met yesterday? And if so, does UIC tell you their decisions over the phone or do you have to constantly check online and/or wait for snail mail?

Yep, I call UIC yesterday too and the committee definitely met yesterday. The person I spoke with said they will be sending letters out in the next few days and that we should hear something by the end of next week (12/22). However, the person I spoke with also said that if no decision has been made, you won't get anything in the mail. I don't know if they will give you their decisions over the phone...but I guess it wouldn't hurt to ask them. Good luck! :luck:

Can you guys post if/when your status page changes? Thanks 🙂

I wonder if individuals who interviewed just before the committee meeting will be included in the batch hearing something soon. 😕 My hunch is, unfortunately, no. Anyone know when the next committee meeting is?

I interviewed on the day before the Oct. meeting and my application was not reviewed until the November meeting. The committee meets once a month, I think towards the end of the month. :luck: :luck:

status changes, anyone??

I need some, any info! I am withering away waiting!

I need some, any info! I am withering away waiting!

last month, the status pages changed on a Monday. Mine didn't change 🙁

have not heard of any post interview rejections yet...

status just changed from decision pedning to

"A final decision was made on your application on 12-15-06. Please allow two-weeks to receive the correspondence in the mail. If you do not receive this correspondence in two-weeks, please contact the Admissions Office. No decision will be given over the telephone."

that sucks that no decision will be given over the phone - this could be good or bad news right? from reading this thread, it looks like if you're put on hold, you are kept at decision pending. but i assume, "a final decision" could be rejection or acceptence?

i guess that means it is bad news for me......my status is still the same.

I have the same. More waiting to come...Drexel's decision is in transit via snail-mail and now UIC's decision is too.

Edit: I don't want to jinx anything by my speculation, but I did some research on last year's application cycle and notice a trend with regards to the status page. http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=247450&highlight=uic Anybody else notice the same thing? (Seriously, I'm not going to elude to anything because I am very superstitious)

can someone quickly tell me how UIC notifies for an interview invite?

do they email? does the status page reflect an invite

I checked the status page one day and saw an interview schedule. I got a snail mail letter a few days later. I didn't get an email invite:luck:

they are still making decisions it seems. my status page changed to final decision has been made today. hopefully it's good news and i don't have to reapply again.

has anyone been rejected post interview yet?

I also have a "final decision" today.

I was very impressed by UIC and I hope this is good news.

a bit off topic, but where can i find some info about acceptance rates from the interview pool for the different illinois schools?

Did anyone else's status change? Since it seems that the online status page updated at different times for different people yesterday, I was wondering if the online system takes a while to reflect status changes...I am still at Decision Pending and I interviewed last week...

i got my packet today. i am in!

i interviewed last week as well and my status page changed yesterday. there could still be a chance that they will be making decisions til the end of next week.

I am still "Decision Pending" and I interviewed in late October.

Whatever. I had a really uncomfortable stress interview with one of my interviewers and if that keeps me out, well, fine.

Hey el1984...

You mentioned that UIC might still be making decisions until the end of next week...how do you know this? Did someone in the Office of Admissions indicate this? I'm just curious if they could be sending more letters out next week, or if they already sent out all of their letters on Friday.

Do you mind me asking what happened?? I didn't know UIC did "stress" interviews!:scared:

From what I know, I have done extensive research on this, but i know that everything should be taken with a grain of salt. Basically, they make all the decisions on one day and send out the letters that day as well or the next as well. But the status pages should all change on the same day.

sorry....i don't have any hard facts. i just know that my status changed the day after someone else has so it doesn't seem like the status changes all at one time necessarily.

The committee isn't going to meet again until January.
