Wondering if anyone is in the same boat.

My application was submitted June 6 and sent out to schools July 7th, all of my application fees are in and i'm just waiting for any contact. My problem is with Indiana. I've been an Indiana resident since I was born and attend Indiana University. My question is, and no offense to who this applies, but how am I not considered for a possible interview till the spring when applicants with a lower or similar GPA and submitted their application after mine have interviews in Sept. and Oct. and Nov. I'm just confused and worried about this because IU is by far my first choice and with my stats may be my only legitimate shot. Anyone want to chime in?

i'm going to suggest (and this may be entirely wrong) that maybe they do their out of state interviews first? i'm from texas (but currently in chicago) and i have an interview there nov.4/5th. my stats are a little above yours, but it's not like i have 23s across the board or anything. it really just depends on when they get your application and if the person looking at it is in a great mood that day.

Have you called them? I'd get on the phone and make sure they're not waiting on you for anything. Just touch bases and follow up. If there are some i's and t's that need dotting and crossing, get them done quick.

Since you attend Indiana, why aren't you visiting the school and making your presence known.

They might be basing the date of the interview on the stats of each applicant: the better the stats, the earlier the interview. For example, even though there might have been spots open earlier, they may simply have time "brackets" for interviews based on your overall numbers.

This is not true at all. Normally, earlier interviews are given out to applicants whose files were reviewed first. I was in the first batch they reviewed and got the first round of interviews.

OP: you shoudnt worry too much. based on what they sent me, for the 2005 incoming class, there were 208 in-state applicants to IU and 72 enrolled. thats 1/3 acceptance which means about 2/3 (about 140) were interviewed. With your stats, you should still be able to make the cut since your stats are consistents with this years incoming class stats: 17.8 DAT and 3.4 GPA. best of luck.
