WVU acceptance/waitlist
Started by bjb305
I thought they had a cut off of 3.5/30 for OOSers. I'm sure about the 30 anyway; they also require at least a 9 in each section of the MCAT.so who's been accepted and waitlisted so far? i interviewed on nov 1st and just got waitlisted.. OOS applicant with 3.44 GPA and 34 MCAT.... still hoping...

just got the acceptance letter in the mail today. out-of-state. interviewd mid-october. wahoo
what was the lowest sub section score?
what was the lowest sub section score?
on the MCAT? bio:10
waitlisted as well...OOS...
Maybe they just really didn't like me, but I received a rejection pre-interview letter that said that WVU requires a 30 MCAT with no section lower than a 9. If you're in-state, I'm sure it's different.I am freaking out because this thread says that they require 9 as the lowest section score on MCAT does anyone have a score lower than 9 and have been accepted?

I am in-state and was accepted back in October, sorry I am not sure the out of state requirements. Best of luck to you though!
Huh. You're probably in good shape, then. They certainly wouldn't interview you if you didn't meet their minimums for acceptance, right?I am an OOS. I have an interview next monday with them and i have a 7 in VR.
Maybe the no-below-9 thing is only for their science sections on the MCAT. I'll reread the letter tonight (always fun) and post.

thanks!
FYI: I am a re-app. I had an interview them last app cycle too. I was waitlisted. that time my VR was 6 ( a point lower)....I am assuming they wouldn't waitlist applicants who don't meet their minimum requirements. but then again...sometimes these "rules or criterias" can have so many exceptions...
^^ did you get any movement from your waitlist position from last year?

WVU don't give a rank to the people on waitlist.

I'm OOS as well with a 7VR (30 combined), and I got selected for an interview as well, u never know I guess!
Can you guys who have interviewed already give some feedback about how it was and what sort of questions were asked, etc? I'm in-state with a 3.0/30 and I'm trying to gauge how good my chances are with such a poor GPA but a decent MCAT.
Also, does anyone have any information on how full the class is so far?
doesn't everyone get put on the waitlist first?

The class was a little less than half full in mid december. after that...someone on SDN was accepted...so I am assuming a batch of accpetances were sent out....so i would say that half full or a little over half full.

from what they told me at the interview...there are two committes...the first committee reviews the file and all the members rate the applicant...based on that rating...you either get rejected or waitlisted...all the waitlisted are then forwarded to the other committeee...who then decides who to accept.
I just got a waitlist letter yesterday, dated 12/29/06. I am not exactly sure what it means but hopefully its just that I am past the first committee. I am oos
when were you interviewed?

guess so.
Hey Guju...since you already passed the preliminary screening, does that mean you'll either be waitlisted again or accepted now, or can they still reject you?

as far as i know...i'll either be accepted or be waitlisted again.
I had my interview the end of Nov and still haven't heard anything 🙁 I thought that we were supposed to hear sooner, even if it was a rejection or waitlist.
have you heard back yet?...if you haven't...i think you should give them a call b/c other people (including myself) on this thread heard back and their interviews were after yours
I just got invited to interview on the 31st. Is anyone else interviewing on that day by chance?

I am OOS and I was accepted on 12/19/06 after interviewing in mid Nov. I am going to be sending in my letter to withdraw my acceptance however, because I have been fortunate enough to be accepted at another school which better suites me.
However, I have to say that I was impressed with WVU, and their efforts to become a bigger name school in the next few years. I really believe that this will be a top notch program in the future. They were primarily an in-state institution up to a few years ago, but the faculty seemed great when I visited and I think it would be a great school to attend.
Good luck to everyone waiting to hear, and I hope that my declining the acceptance opens up a spot for one of you, maybe Guju???

that's nice of you to withdraw. thank you...i am keeping my fingers crossed.
Supposedly... The first committee meets and they review your file. After that committee which is the adcom, then you are either waitlisted or rejected. If you are waitlisted, then you are given to the dean's committee and they decide whether or not to accept you. They do not rank their waitlist. Thats really all I know...
Has anyone heard anything regarding when the next committee meeting is going to be held?
i thought they meet every Tuesday?
is WVU still interviewing?
