any ideas on where i could find how/where i could recieve dental x-ray certification? I would really like to get the certification so i can look for a dental assisting job for this winter or next summer in Pa.

Each state is different. Find the PA state Dental Assistant Association, or something like that, and see if you can find out information through that route. Here in New Jersey, to get your license you must first complete a ridiculously long course (25 hours lecture, 15 hours lab, then 30 hours of clinical work) before you can take the DANB or state dental radiography test, then assuming you pass it, you can apply for your state license. I just finished up the 4th week of my course. I'm taking a 3-hours/once a week/15 week course.

I hope for your sake PA is not as uptight about who they hand out x-ray licenses to.

Here in California you go to class for one day 8 hours, take some x-rays on each other at the end of the day, bring two patients a week later and take a few x-rays for 30 minutes, and viola, you are licensed 🙂 All done at the convenience of a weekend.

That is so unfair. LOL. Some states from what I gather don't require ANY classes/training, you just pay for the license and you get it - at least that is what a few people in my x-ray class who have moved from other states have said. Stupid New Jersey. The benefit I see in having this class, though, is that I'm learning all about collimation & filtration, how the development process works, etc., before I get to dental school.
