I just filled out my FAFSA yesterday (ie, there's no way it could have been processed yet), and my info is in there as well (colleges, contact info, city of birth, etc). Does everyone else have their info in there?

Can you post the link to the site?

Weird. Somehow I posted after you, but it went into the thread before you. 😕
Q... get back on the CCLCM thread. I'm lonely..... 😳

FAFSA or the Yale Financial Aid Application? If it was also in the FAFSA I'm even more inclined to believe this happens automatically and means nothing.

Sorry, I wasn't clear. I meant my info was in the Yale FA Application just now when I registered and checked. However, because I just filled out the FAFSA yesterday, Yale could not have started processing my financial aid application yet. There was no pre-filled out info in my FAFSA.

I filled the Yale form out back in February, on the same day that I submitted my FAFSA. I don't remember if anything had been pre-filled out for me at that point (from AMCAS, perhaps).

My status on that page is still listed as "submitted." (Not "in process" or anything encouraging of that nature.) Hope that's not a bad sign.

My info is also already filled in!!!

Is this good news?

we don't know yet. it could be entirely inconsequential. we have yet to hear of anybody whose info was NOT there.

The info is not coming from FAFSA. (ChocKiss just filled it out and besides, i don't think it asks for place of birth). Probably from the AMCAS. I'd be willing to bet it's from the AMCAS. I guess the question is whether or not Yale would bother linking up the AMCAS to the financial aid app for all their applicants. Could be a simple program that does it automatically, making it reasonable for them to do this.

Also, if they waitlist instead of rejecting post-interview non-accepted people then it may be up for everyone since I know they encouraged waitlistees to fill out the info in case they get in at a later time point.

It would be interesting to see what would happen if someone who applied and didn't interview to try and fill one out. If they can, then we know it means nothing. If they can't, well, that doesnt really tell us much.

will just have to wait and see

info as in address and stuff on the Yale Fin Aid form? cuz that's filled out for me. does other people have other stuff filled out? :scared:

i had info like address, location of birth, colleges attended..

Yeah, my information's there, too. I'm thinking it's just automatically in there if every single person has it...

i really don't want to witness the first person to post "that info isn't up there for me" and yet with each person that says the info IS up for them without that happening, the chances of this meaning something good are less and less....

So, am I the only one who was OCD enough to fill out all this stuff way back when?

i looked at it, but didn't want to jinx myself. 😛

I guess I figured that getting all my stuff in ASAP would show them that I am really, really, really, interested in their school. But I did worry a bit that it would jinx me. 🙂

Mine says "in process"
Any thoughts?

 Ok, so I'm probably the only person who did not fill out any forms, and did not try to check my status. I'll do it, if someone here will be so kind as to provide me with the link and walk me through it. And I SWEAR, this weekend I will do my FAFSA. :meanie:

The prefilled info is definitely from AMCAS, and probably from a good while ago. I moved and updated my address with AMCAS at the beginning of January, and the prefilled info on Yale's financial form had my old address. BUT -- the letter about missing financial info came to my new address, so I know that they have that.

I don't think the prefilled form is an indicator one way or another -- they probably just fill it in with a lookup in the database on your ss#, and they have this for all applied applicants.

1) Click this link:

https://medapps13.med.yale.edu/faa/faa_web.login

2) Register for the file (you'll have to create a username/password, and enter you ssn)

3) Sign in with your username/password

4) Click the 2006/2007 application

5) Click Application Preview "Preview section"
It should show you your application with some already filled out information (ie your undergraduate school, place of birth)

I agree, this information must have automatically been entered from our AMCAS application (that's why they asked for your ssn)

Well, I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that's good.

Aw, shucks.

Anyway, Q, the link is given in a post up the page, but I'll reproduce it here for you... http://www.med.yale.edu/education/finaid/forms/index.html

Actually it didn't say "in process" when I first registered today and was asked to click 2005/2006 or 2006/2007. It probably says "in process" now (half an hour late) because I registered today.

Are we sure they're telling us the 28th? Because I was under the impression that that announcement would be for M.D./Ph.D only...

Oh -- so you've started it, but haven't finished it?? That makes me feel a bit better. Whew!

I don't believe we are sure of anything (I know I'm not!), but it sounds like the last few people who have called were told that they were shooting for the 28th.

Thanks, guys. Ok, yes, my info is already entered, so it has to be from AMCAS. In fact, Yale has even been so good as to make me a year older than I actually am. :meanie: (Kind of weird: the DOB is correct, but then where it says age, it's a year off. 😕 )

Where as MollyMalone's says "submitted" because she had already submitted it in February

Thanks for clarifying! 😀

I am so ready for this whole application year to be over. (Where is the "I'm so tired of all this I'm going to fall over" smiley?)

In your application preview under "status" (first line) does your thing say "returning" ??

I can't believe I'm so pathetic

You're in excellent company. Mine, that is. 😀

P.S. - Love your username!

And, thanks, Q, I'm hanging on. By a thread. Barely. Patience has never been one of my virtues.

:meanie: By the Yale Timeline Thread, I presume??? Ok, I need to get going. You guys hold down the thread here. Let me know if there are any other stampedes to join later. 😉

guys, the returning vs incoming is just whether you're a returning student or an incoming student (depending on what you put on the first page of the app). breathe, people, breathe.

Sorry! You're absolutely right. I feel like such an a** right now.

Good luck everyone. Looks like we're going to have to wait for the decisions the normal way 😴

Oh you poor waiting guys!

When I logged in and saw that there were two pages of new posts on this thread, I thought for sure you must have heard something! But no...

Hang in there, I'm sure it'll be soon 🙂

and........I'd like to officially apologize for getting people worked up over what is seemingly nothing.

Yeah, we don't do math very well here. Numbers are hard!

I doubt it's nothing. I'm willing to put down money you're in. They wouldn't send that to someone who's rejected. It wouldn't exist within the FAO.

oh......im referring to the whole "some of my info has been pre-filled on my online financial aid app" mess, not the mail i received. i don't think it secures acceptance, but it should at least suggest a waitlist. sending that to a soon to be rejected applicant would be cruel.

No worries. 🙂 I appreciate the fuel for my overactive imagination.

True... Yeah, my stuff was prefilled too, but I never submitted my FAFSA. Damn, damn, damn. Anyway, anyone talk to the office today? Any word?

They said that decisions would be sent out at the end of this week (it was either sent out or received...I think it was sent out). Also, they will only be sent out by snail mail, not email (I don't know who intially said that it was by email).

Thanks for posting!

One would think that this information would help put an end to my obsessive email checking during this week. One would be wrong.

Bummer that it's now snail mail only. An email would be nice... although if you don't get the acceptance email, then you just dread your mail box.

I broke down and called, and Grace said she doesn't know yet if it's email or snailmail. This makes no sense. Also, she said "it's still early" when I asked if they've been sent. I'm so lost.

Dude, now everyone in the computer lab is looking at me funny because I involuntarily snorted when I read the "it's still early" comment. Thanks a lot!

I suppose it is sort of comforting in a weird kind of way that it would appear that the Yale Admissions Office has no more idea of what's going on than we do. 🙄

Oh GOD, can I just bitch for a second? I spent the week under the impression that I would know today if I got in, and that the uncertaintly would be over. Now I might know this time next week or later. I'm upset. I'd just like to be able to start planning WHICH SIDE OF THE FRIGGIN ATLANTIC I'LL BE ON NEXT YEAR. Argh.

Bitch as much as you want!! I declare this an official venting zone.

You should really be on the Pacific Coast. It's so warm over there...

Oh wait, that's me projecting my own desires into your life. Whoops. Anyway, you'll get into Yale. That's my official prediction. Now if I had only predicted George Mason going to the Final Four...

I wonder what made them change their minds about emailing us. I was told directly by the admissions office a month ago that they would be emailing...
