- Pre-Dental

You understand what average means, right? And you might want to take a look around SDN. There are some very interesting threads that point out how an Obama presidency might not be the best for white collar professionals or dental practices.I'll be a general dentist making on average ~$185,000. Under $200,000? Sweet. Hooray for Obama!
What? You're specializing? Oh. Sorry for your loss.

Haisha-san, there's more to life than money.

Most of us are pre-dental right now and by the time we practice, we'll have another president. Stop worrying about Obama this, Obama that.
👍
When you are at a stage when you have that much, you shouldnt be too worried about it. There are people with nothing.... and not because they don't work hard. Get a clue.
Obama is preaching socialism. Regardless of your agreement with that he will be taxing those individuals who have worked hard for their positions and jobs. This robes the incentives and motivations to be successful and work for your accomplishments. I mean why work hard when you are being rewarded for not working. Capitalism is what America was founded on and what it needs. And yes I agree we will be making less than 250000 but when we get married and our spouse contributes that income grows scarily closer to that corporate tax cut off. Obama's platform is attractive at the surface but please don't be ignorant think about all factors. To everyone saying money isn't everything then why are you complaining about jobs being lost? Money is a reward in a capitalistic society and it is what makes the world go round. Now that Obama has one the election I am interested in seeing how democrats respond to the claims of their party being the reason for a dwindling economy.
"I agree. I don't know why it always comes down to money when they are already making or have accumulated tons. I guess this basically filters out people that are in here for money only."
Are you even out of school yet? You'd be lying your a** off if you said financial security did not play a major role in your decision to go into the dental field. If you use the liberal and failed idea of socialized healthcare, you will see a major decline in salaries (lower reimbursements), not to mention the increased workload, hence burnout. Not only that, if we taxed more to those making >250K (well that is subject change...hmm), we're taxing the their salary AND the gross (if >250k) of their practice (if they own a practice).

Jon,He loves to take their money. I hope you love that too.
Obama's plan treats the problem by redistributing wealth to those Ares but once the economy rebounds there is little opportunity for growth.
actually, universal health care is beneficial for health professionals because we wont have to argue with insurance companies or have to wonder if different things are covered. obama is requiring that insurance companies are upfront about what is covered. also, since the insurance companies will no longer be allowed to discriminate against who is worth covering, more of our patients will have coverage, which means we dont have to worry about getting pain. the government spends billions of dollars trying to compensate health professionals for the money their patients couldn't pay them. so in actuality, obama is a good thing for our practices. in addition, if you people are seriously more concerned with paying more taxes because we'll be wealthier, than you're selfish and probably lied on you applications about caring for the community and wanting to help others. we're going to make enough money that paying a little more to help others isn't going to hurt us and its going to help society as a whole. if you're only in this for the money then you probably shouldn't even go to dental school. if you dont believe me, just let me know cause i had to write a paper on obama's plan for universal health care last year and i will gladly share it with whoever private msgs me so people can stop being so ignorant and selfish. this election made history and proving our country can get past the racism barrier and having democrats in office is worth extra taxes for those of us that will have so much money any way. he's only taxing people who made more than $250,000 a year. if you're making that much, you can afford to help out others. pull your heads out of your asses if you dont agree.
👍. To you, and Enso's comment above. This is exactly the way I feel.

there are already several threads on this

I know you are not talking about the real world, but people being rewarded are not going to be millionaires overnight!!!This robes the incentives and motivations to be successful and work for your accomplishments. I mean why work hard when you are being rewarded for not working.

policy made now affect us until they are changed. Change in policy takes time to implement and then time (time meaning almot a year or two) for most types of policy to take effect. No quick fixes, no quick changes after next election.
Just reading through this thread and seeing the way some people think, i had to remind myself that I am on SDN, where supposedly, people that have or want careers dedicated to caring for others would exist. It doesn't seem to be that way....Some people feel that Obama's plans will take from "hard working wealthy individuals" and reward those that don't deserve it😱. Exactly what kind of rewards are they receiving? The extra money that wealthy or rich individuals will have to pay in taxes, does not allow a poor person to go out and buy a BMW, or a brand new house right next door to you. It only gives them the bare minimum, and some health care "so they can come see us"😀 and we are upset at that? If it's that bad, trade places with them, and live off of the handouts given by the government. Then come back and tell everyone how you have been rewarded. I highly doubt that is a reward, or even a way of life that anyone would like to have.
Great post.
Do you think Obama loves dentists? CUZ I LOVE OBAMA!!! any one else???😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
correct, so why are you so worried about Obama's tax Ideas. They are mere ideas at this point. They still have to pass congress and thats why you voted for you republican congressman? or did he/she lose too, oops! 🙂
ANY future doctors here NOT believe abortion? Do no harm.
What does this have to do with the original post?
A briliant, highly educated man will lead the nation. A man who BARELY graduated college and a woman who glorifies airheaded "non-elitism" and ignorance thankfully will not.

Mccain is a good man. He served his country in the senate and Navy and would have made a fine president. Remember that "airhead" is also someone's mother and wife. A lot of people look up to her and just because you don't like her you start name calling.
