Ok, I took the DAT on January 25th and have been debating putting my scores up or not but I decided there is just no reason not to. I am just looking for feedback based on your opinions of my chances for an interview/admission with these scores and a gpa of 3.6

I studied throughout Christmas break and through January up until my exam. I borrowed two different Kaplan books, a blue one and a white one that was titled "Review Notes", and bought Topscore. Basically I just want to know if people think it would be worth it for me to retake it and purchase study materials such as destroyer, cdp, CrackDat or other things I have been reading about on here. Also I want to say thanks to everyone for posting their tips on RC as I used the technique of reading until I came to the answer, moving on to the next question and continuing doing so repeatedly until the whole passage was read. Thanks everyone I look forward to your responses.

congrats on being done and solid scores. You are in a good shape. If you REALLY think you ll improve and for some reason want to, then go for it, otherwise I dont recommend it. How was your RC? a lot of tone Qs?

I would call some schools you're interested in and see what they have to say about the 16 QR. Other than that those are solid scores and you have above average GPA.

I got nearly the exact same scores you did, including a 16 QR. Ive done alot of studying on schools through this website, and i've been comfortable with the fact that schools could care less about the QR, they'll be happy to see our AA TS PAT and RC, which we did great on. If you were planning on applying to certain schools like harvard and what not, then yeah it might merit a retake, but if your trying to just get into a dental school, your set with these scores

Thank you very much sarora11, that is exactly the kind of reassurance I was looking for and I hope for our sake you are correct. I talked to someone I know who is going to Indiana's dental school next year and he also got a 16 QR, so with that and your message I am feeling a bit better. I'll be happy just going to dental school, Harvard is certainly not a school I will be applying to.

Also, my RC went as follows. My first two passages were easy and I don't even remember what they were about. The third one however, was about afferent and efferent neurons at the CNS and PNS junction and dealt with a few different technically named pathways that got pretty dense for me at the end of the hour. So, in my case, the most difficult part of all the reading came in the final three paragraphs of the third passage, so you may want to keep that in mind.

For anyone else taking the exam, my advice is to not put it on a pedestal. Anyone can do well on this exam granted they prepare for it accordingly. I feel blessed that it is looking like I will only have to take the exam once and only spent 50 bucks on study materials (Topscore - Which I and most other people recommend). Now, I realize preparing for it accordingly is different for everyone, but I believe one of undergrad's most important teachings is exactly that, learning how to learn and understanding when you are prepared. Good luck to everyone!
